Used to be great, actually.... The original owner was from Japan and used to rival sushi from any major city for 1/2 the price. 3 types of fish eggs were nice to try, and the steak nigiri was awesome.
The service was always slow but bearable. We ordered almost 1 of each nigiri per person (2 people) and a few duplicates and would take forever, but the guy was like 70 years old, so it just kind of added to the charm of the place. They used to have a secret menu on weekends too of monkfish liver, bonita, uni, toro.
We tried twice since the original owner sold it, and the magic of this place is gone. Prices have increased, and service is far worse. They added the "secret menu" to the actual, but the availability of all fish has been horrible both times, and they don't state this until after you order. Wifes breastfeeding too, so we avoid too many mercury heavy fish, but last time, she only got half the fish she ordered. Then you have to ask what we even actually received since it's just random. None of the main fish have been available other than salmon/tuna. We ordered warm sake but had to ask for it 2 more times since it was just sitting in the microwave....waitress seems completely lost these days.
Sad situation going on because the food was still good, but it was horribly mismanaged now when it comes to the...
Read moreThis was recommended by one of my husband’s coworkers, so we decided to try it out. The waitresses were friendly, and the menu was simple which I can appreciate. Too many options for me will give me a headache. We got the tempura and miso soup to start. Miso soup was nice and hot, very comforting. The tempura was okay. It wasn't my favorite. The batter was light and airy, but just not crispy enough for my liking. We waited close to an hour for our sushi because there was only one sushi chef, he was also an elderly man so we were understanding about it. We were a little taken aback when my husband’s sushi rolls took long though. We had just finished our sashimi, and we waited another half an hour for his rolls. I will say that this is probably the freshest sashimi I have had in TX. It just melts in your mouth, the slices were a little skimpy though. The rolls we got were decent, we thought it was just average, but once again the fish tasted very fresh. Unfortunately, we left here a little less than content, so we had to go get a “second” dinner. It was a nice experience to go here, but I don’t think we...
Read moreWe had stopped going to this place because of the customer service from the big man behind the counter. He’s made rude comments in the past and this is why I stopped going for years, decided to try it last night 6/27 around 7ish and saw their menu had changed so ordered a bottle of sake and just a Philly roll because we were not going To eat dinner there since the menu did not appease me, but still wanted to order something instead of just leaving. The big man behind the counter made the comment real loud “ oh they don’t want nothing special” I thought was rude since they said it loud enough. I usually try to be diplomatic but will not return at all their menu is gross not the same vibe from past, our server still got a tip but maybe this is why the place always looks empty....
