So I was really hoping I could write an email or message someone at Hannah and Nate's in regards to my visit this morning, however, I cannot find a way to do this anywhere. I really enjoy Hannah and Nate's. My waitstaff has always been friendly and knowledgeable, the food is good, the coffee makes me very happy, and the patio is really lovely. Unfortunately, today I was treated very poorly by someone who, I believe, was management. I noticed the last time I was there that dogs were allowed on the patio. I read the entire sign posted on their front entrance about dogs on the patio before deciding to bring my dog. I was not aware of a side entrance for pets (not all restaurants in Albuquerque have them) so I picked my dog up and brought her in to tell them we needed a table. The hostess was very nice and went to clear a table in the patio when we walked in. Immediately a woman, who I believe was the manager, came over and told me that "it's fine this time, but next time we have an entrance on the other side." I totally appreciate knowing this fact, however, she talked to myself and my friend like we were misbehaving teenagers. Once they got us into our seat we had a pleasant breakfast and all was forgotten. As I was paying my bill my dog wanted to sit on my lap and I pulled her up. As I was signing the receipt the same woman as last time came over to tell me my dog was not allowed on my lap. Which is really fine. I understand, however, she was talking to me like I was a child or a poorly behaved employee. Tone is everything and I am wiling to change my review, but perhaps the pet policy needs to be placed on their website? Or maybe just being polite to your paying patrons would be a good idea. I've never had a problem bringing my animal around Albuquerque or Corrales and I always try to make sure I'm aware of the restaurant/brewery's policy before I go in. I really hope I can change this review. Feel free to contact me with any...
Read moreThe service was wonderful, with coffee refills frequent. The things I will comment on are the flatware and the seasoning. I know it's expensive to buy enough flatware for a restaurant because one needs at least twice the number of forks, spoons, knives, as there are seats. However, I want to emphasize that as far as the dining experience is concerned, I appreciated the acoustic panels on the ceiling, which brought the ambient sound level down to where we could carry on a conversation without shouting or overhearing everything said at the next table. I'm not going to rail against the paper napkins, which I think can be budget-driven as much as anything else, but I will point out that as far as a complete dining experience, it felt a bit cheap to eat nice food with cheap, obviously stamped implements. I understand that it can be a purely budget-driven decision, but I want the owners, or whoever is in charge of buying flatware, that they should be ware that it does effect the dining experience. I must also report that I was thrilled that my omelet could be prepared as a scramble, instead. But I was disappointed with its lack of flavor. I could taste the vegetables, but I would have at least added something beyond salt and pepper, though it's not even apparent that there was any pepper used. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the chalkboard provided a bit of humor, but the flatware and seasons need...
Read moreFor the last 8 years I never took the time to come into Hannah and Nate's. I just never had the time and my lunch breaks were always when they were closed. After I started working at Casa Vieja Brewing across the street it was very convenient to order from them and that's when the magic happened. I started by ordering their sandwiches and they would make the hair stand up on the back of my neck when I ate them. Being a line cook for a nearly 15 year period I have great respect for food being made with great care and attention and could tell that this food was not just your regular coffee shop parlor food. It was a standardized form of art. No matter how quick my food is made it still impresses me every time. Without fail. One of the afternoons when I wanted a salad for a lighter fare I ordered the Pesto Shrimp Salad and I almost can't bring myself to order anything else now! It is a culinary masterpiece! This salad is loaded with more shrimp than most entrees at a seafood restaurant, at least a half of a ripe Hass avocado, a heaping handful of sweet, delicious sunflower sprouts (of which I've never tried until this salad) and sweet corn and it is so perfectly balanced. It is absolutely wonderful. the salad tastes the same every time I order it. Thank you Hannah and Nate for making sure your place meets that standard...
