MJ's Cafe — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

I'll just start off by saying that I love the food here and just about every item on the menu is very good. I order here every week for a couple people in my office and everyone always loves what they get.

My main issue is this place chronically never has your order ready on time and its been getting worse and worse. I order a couple of sandwiches every week to be picked up at 11:45am because I know they are always late but I end up waiting until 12:15-12:20pm most days, more than 30 minutes after my order is supposed to be ready.

I'm getting really tired of having to stand around for 20+ minutes every single week when our order gets put in before 9am to be picked up at 11:45am and I have to wait until after 12:15 most days to get my order.

I really do love the food here, but having to stand around for 20+ minutes after my order pick-up time is really making me rethink from ordering here...

This place would be great if they could get an order correct. I used to come here daily but today was the last straw. It seems like there is new staff and it has been really hurting the service here. Today isn't the first day I've ordered a breakfast sandwich, paid full price, only to sit down and realize there is no meat in the sandwich. Ordering even a slight variation from my usual would result in an item being left out of my order and an extra 10-20 min wait time for an item I had already paid for. I've been late returning to work, disappointed, not to mention ill, too many times after eating here. They're also overpriced since they hiked prices on almost every item. Today I paid $6.43 for two slices of bread (not toasted as they should have been), two slices of semi-melted american cheese, and a couple slivers of avocado. Never...

I have been going to MJ's for three years but no more (it is across the street from where I work). I always give a place three tries after a bad experience (I got sick on a breakfast burrito). I ordered two café latte's on two different occasions. Both of them were cold. How you can make a café latte cold is beyond me since I ordered them as a hot drink. Today I ordered a tuna sandwich. The bread was stale, tasteless and the sandwich was falling apart because of it. I noticed the sign on the counter that said they are increasing their prices in May. I will not be taking part in that. I have met the owner and she is super nice; she must not be aware of what is going on at this location because she strikes me as someone who cares. I wish her luck but I will no longer be a client...
