I got a tip on this place from Coco, a woman from El Salvador that I was talking to in the park near my house. I asked her where the best Pupusas are - and she said San Sivar in Costa Mesa. San Sivar also has a Salvadorian bakery, right next-door, so the combination of baked goods and freshly made Pupusas on the griddle, made the aromas in this place incredible. My favorite was the bean and cheese pupusa, but don’t skip out on the pork and cheese, and the queso and Chicharrón Pupusas . 📍SAN SIVAR RESTAURANT 1940 Harbor Blvd. Costa Mesa, Ca . . . . . #ocfoodie #lafoodie #costamesa #orangecounty #pupusas #sansivar

My first time going there and most likely my last. I can only speak for the Caldo de res. $18.00 it cost for a bowl of this soup. I thought for sure for that price I would get good portions. But I was wrong! it came with four small pieces of meat the size of chicken nuggets at best. It’s like a starter soup a a restaurant. Not good portion at all. How do you justify charging $18 for broth, vegetables and 4 small pieces of meat. Now I have to go somewhere else to buy food because I’m still hungry and I spent almost $20.00 already I called to voice my concern (I was respectful but honest) The lady basically told me she doesn't make the prices and hung up on me. Please, the soup tasted good but you are ripping people off at that price. Make bigger portions or lower the price!

Called continuously to no avail. So I ordered “online” I waited over 40mins, stood in line behind 5 people and when I got to the counter they tell me they don’t have my order and that the page that is linked on here as their “website” is fraudulent but I’m charged and got a confirmation number! The lady said she’s had other complaints and that there isn’t anything she can do… so I’m out 23$ and 40+ minutes of my time, I got no apology no offer to make things right just a “deal with it” attitude. Rudest customer service ever! Never going there again! If it’s an ongoing problem maybe address it? If I could I’d give this whole experience negative 5 stars.

The place is very good very nice place, but the only thing or weird stuff was the way that the waitress attending to the customers including me last night when just go into the dinning room walking true till looking anyone any employee off course finally i stopped by the kitchen area to find someone. There's only one front big dark window with tinted glass on the wall that separates us from the dinning room and one door and 2 waitresses wearing regularly clothes, so they don't have uniforms to distinguish between customers. Well the point is way they try to sale or attending everybody's like at the same time then when they came out with our orders they have incompletely ordered or missing something from my food also ordered to eaten in not to go. I don't like coslow or cabbage mixed with vinaigrette dressing so i order instead refried beans white cheese and sour cream on the side. Minutes later almost asked for desert and give me the check, i told her not right now i want some desert. So they spend to much time on so i desired to bring me back the first check to pay for the dinner. Like...

Pupusas are amazing, the customer service not so much. I order ahead because it takes about 30 minutes to prepare. I go to pick up my food and there is a line to order and or pick up. Waited another 15 minutes and while I am in line people behind me are asking for to go orders and the girls working and taking people in the line behind me and are just ignoring me standing there, mind you we are at 45 minutes at this point. Then the girl brings our my order (9) pupusas, with 2 small chile cups for the whole order. I asked her for an additional chiles as there were 9 pupusas, she said that's all it comes with so I told her charge me for another one then but I need it. Then she tries to charge me for the whole order again when I paid over the phone prior to picking the order up. Great food service is HORRIBLE, if they want to remain a thriving business someone needs to teach those woman about...

Went for lunch with my friend, we both asked for chiles rellenos, and one pupusa, unlike other have reviewed and stated that food and service is not good i can say for myself that it was totally the opposite, the lady was really nice and friendly, the place was really busy and even tho she managed to remember table by table who she was waiting, who was ready to leave and who was in need of anything else. Food took a decent amount of time but not forever like others had said, and the price is decent. I must admit the place is small and not quite pretty but clean organized. I found the food really good! And right next they have a small shop where you can find "pan dulce" meaning sweet rolls (Salvadoran ) and many other treats and can and jar food from central America also frozen fruits from there too. And the lady that cooks and attends the clientele is really nice and friendly. I...
