I had promised to do a feature on Costa Mesa’s new playground at Jordan Park, but since @goparkplay just did an awesome reel on that earlier this week (go check it out!), I decide to devote this post to Lions Park and Donald Dungan Library, which are our favorite outings in Costa Mesa. It just gets more fun as the kids get older, since they can enjoy some of the more advanced playground equipment. The zip line swing is a favorite, and is doable (with close supervision) once kids are around 2. The playground recently installed a musical feature, which was a nice add-on to the existing playground. The park is right next to the library, which has story times at 10:30am on Wednesday (bilingual) and 10:30am on Thursday (toddlers). Both the park and library have tons of parking and restrooms. There is not much shade though, so go early or on a colder day! 📍1855 Park Ave Costa Mesa 92627 #ocparentguide #costamesa #orangecounty #park #playground #playgroundfun #library #momblogger #momblog #ocparents #ocmoms

Surprising find and a great amenity to the downtown Costa Mesa area. Children's area on the first floor facing the playground. Storytime at 1030am. Separate children's bathroom within the children's area. Teen area on the second floor. Awe inspiring stair and skylight bring light into the building. Adjacent playground with fun play structures.

Modern and welcoming library. Has a wonderful area just for teens. Parking near the facility is free and convenient. Has 2 study rooms that accommodate up to 8 people and are free to reserve on a same-day, first-come basis. Plenty of working desks with decently comfortable chairs.

This library is well stocked, and staffed with wonderful employees and volunteers. The only downside to this library are the people that use the library. As others have mentioned, there are many homeless people that use the facility - however, they are not the problem. While some people occasionally do cause a disturbance, it's the folks who feel that a public library should only be accessed by SOME members of the public that I take issue with. The folks who think they have special rights in a public space because they're fortunate enough to have a warm home to go to at night - and fail to see that of all the places a homeless person can go, the library is one forum where they have an opportunity to spend time and improve their plight. One way to get a job, perform well in an interview, or advance in life, is through education --- after childhood, education costs money....unless it's found in a public library. While not every homeless person in the library is there to learn, I have met and talked with several that have been some of the more interesting library goers - they are human beings, many of them intelligent, well versed in history and books, and with interesting stories to tell. Perhaps if people would show a little compassion for the less fortunate, they'd enjoy the library (and other PUBLIC spaces) more.

I'm at the library at least once per week, and have been for months - I've witnessed only one...yes, ONE disturbance. And it was handled quickly and without police involvement.

This library is a tremendous resource, conveniently located, and offers books, audio cd's, movies, and more. I especially like the language section, which offers learning guides for many languages. There is also a book store operated by the Friends of the Costa Mesa Library, and most books cost only $1 or less --- and they have some great stuff! Passport services are...

Insane Asylum for any Adults. With specifically designed rooms and floors it keeps all non-homeless from witnessing over policing, mistreatment and harrassment of homeless. Guards and Staff pass every 15 minutes to ensure you, an adult and the presumed homeless, are not eating or sleeping while nobody else is so closely monitored. Most of them are helplessly struggling and just want to sleep and be left alone. But it's all OK. Segregation and Harassment of poor people is fine and acceptable according to these Catholics behavior. I'm referring to majority of staff who run the place. Like with many public institutions, this library is mostly run by Roman Catholics. How does HR Staffing manage to assemble so many Catholics in one place? All just a coincidence folks? Would segregation and mistreatment of poor be a Catholic thing too? I wonder if all others saying positive things aren't Shills or Catholics themselves (just a question) Citizens have a right to question a single religion takeover of institutions as suspicious and against Public Policy. But because most Censors just so happened to be Roman Catholic as well this might get taken down. The 13 other comments hating on homeless can stay up all the time but don't dare say anything negative about Catholics, especially in this Public Interest and...

Great Architecture for the library but worst customer service that I've ever had. It was my first time at the library and I went into the Teens lounge area by accident. A librarian lady came in and asked me to leave. She even asked for my age like I'm a criminal. I tried to be nice to her, apologized and explained it's my first time here. Not only did she not respect my apologies, she came back in again in less than a minute and asked me to leave while I was packing up and getting ready to leave. I don't understand why we pay our taxes to hire someone so disrespectful. The lounge has clear glass walls. I don't think it's gonna be a threat to any teens there. Moreover, the lounge area is more like a place for teenagers to constantly chat and make noise. I understand maybe the original intention is to create a safe area for young people, but this kind of attitude is ridiculous. She should be fired...
