This place has fallen off already and they haven’t been open for a year yet. I’ve been coming here for lunch since the first week they opened. Everything was great and the service was fast and friendly. I work in the area so I take my lunch here once or twice a week. I’ve been waiting to write a review to the place and I’m glad I waited.
Fast forward to the past few weeks or so and the food doesn’t taste the same and the food takes forever to come out. I understand that this place can get very busy with a line out the door but I take my lunch around 3pm to avoid the crowd.
Today 6/14/23 at around 245pm is probably the last time I come here for my lunch break. The place was busy but not that busy because I was able to place my order right away and get a table to eat at. I waited for over 25 mins till I had to go up to the front counter and ask for a refund because my lunch is over and need to go back to work and still don’t have my food. The girl at the counter told me that their average ticket time has always been around 25 mins. I told her that’s not true because I eat here all the time and my food is always out in 10 mins or less. The guy that ordered before me was also complaining and asking about his food to the cooks. They wrote my name down on a clipboard and said I should have my refund within 3 days. Hopefully I get it because I’ve gave them a lot of business and recommended them to a lot people in the area.
Very sad to see this place go from amazing to just average in a short amount of time. Might be a issue with staffing and keeping employees because I was always seeing different people working there being there so frequently. Another one start review from 3 weeks ago, I think his name was Michael, his review was spot on! This business doesn’t not value...
Read moreThe food here is excellent, we first found The Taco Stand in La Jolla and we were impressed. I was excited to see there was another location nearby when we were in Costa Mesa so we went for lunch. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the workers were not friendly or accommodating when we asked to replace guacamole on the taco food sour cream because we prefer our tacos that way. They seemed upset that we asked to change it and had to ask other workers if they can do it or not. I found it very weird considering you should be able to order whichever toppings you would like on a taco. I was told by their manager, they DONT usually substitute anything but they will go ahead and do it THIS time ONLY and they charged me extra for it. I also find it odd considering avocados are much more expensive than sour cream. I also think the tables look really dirty and should be replaced, especially the little cup holders attached to the table were all pretty gross. Luckily, they do have good food and that was the whole reason I came here and I am not giving less than 4 stars because I don’t want to lower their rating but I do want the owners to read this because every business owner wants customers to be happy and continue to support their business. I think it is important to be able to eat in a clean environment and the customer should not feel like they are getting scolded for wanting a different topping that isn’t offered on any of the tacos. What if i am allergic to avocados? It shouldn’t...
Read moreA Stand-Out Taco Experience in Costa Mesa! The Taco Stand in Costa Mesa has quickly become my go-to spot for authentic and incredibly flavorful Mexican food. From the moment you step in, the vibrant atmosphere and the delicious aromas hint that you're in for a treat, and they consistently deliver!
My absolute must-try item is their California Burrito. It's truly fantastic on its own – perfectly grilled carne asada, crispy fries, fresh pico de gallo, and a generous dollop of guacamole, all wrapped up in a warm tortilla. The balance of textures and flavors is just superb, making it a substantial and satisfying meal.
But what truly elevates the experience at The Taco Stand is their wonderful selection of sauces. While the burrito is a masterpiece on its own, a drizzle of their chile verde sauce adds a bright, tangy, and subtly spicy kick that complements the richness of the carne asada beautifully. And for those who love a smoky depth, their chipotle sauce is an absolute game-changer, lending a fantastic warmth and a touch of sweetness that makes an already amazing burrito even more extraordinary.
Beyond the California Burrito, everything I've tried has been top-notch, from their authentic tacos to their fresh agua frescas. Service is always friendly and efficient, even when they're bustling.
If you're in Costa Mesa and craving truly exceptional Mexican food, The Taco Stand is an absolute must-visit. You won't be...
