Hardee’s — Restaurant in Council Bluffs

My husband and I came here for breakfast at 10:10 this morning (Sunday). When we walked in, we saw one employee working the register, one working drive through, two in the kitchen, and one wandering around with a roll of garbage bags.

The gentleman working the register was helping a couple in front of us. He was clearly frazzled. While taking their order he would stop, look around, tap a few keys, then stop and look around again. It took more than a minute for him to take the order for two people, and that’s just the time from when we came in, mid-order.

Once they finished taking that order, the guy walked away from the register and went to where the food is placed, like he was going to pull orders. He would look at an order paper, look at the food in front of him, and then look another order and back to the food, while not actually pulling any orders. There were two people waiting for their food, a gentleman in front of us waiting to order, and a party of 6-8 behind us waiting to order. It was a solid 4-5 minutes where no one was manning the register. Eventually the man waiting to order in front of us said to himself, “I don’t think this is going to work” and walked out. This whole time, not one worker said anything to the customers, like “Thanks for your patience” or “be right with you”.

Finally, as we were about the leave, the register worker walked back to the register—then turned around and stared back at the kitchen workers for probably 30 seconds.

Taking our order was a struggle. I asked for an English muffin with bacon combo, small. He struggled with typing it in and then asked me what size I wanted. I repeated, small. He took probably 30 more seconds to enter that in the register. My husband ordered his meal combo, with large drink. The worker said, “so no combo just the sandwich and large drink?” My husband repeated his order. The worker was grumbling as he worked to type in the order. He kept stopping and looking at the group behind us and looking stressed about it. Before giving us the total he said, “Sorry for snapping at you, we’re just really busy.” First of all, there were maybe 8 people sitting in the restaurant with food, 1 now waiting for food, and us. Not that busy. My husband said, “Maybe snapping at your customers is the wrong way to handle being busy”. The worker looked at him, said, “sorry, we’re busy” and handed us our drink cups. He gave my husband a medium cup and had to be reminded it was a large.

We waited about 6 minutes for our food to be ready. My husband brought our tray to us and sat down. We opened our sandwiches, and my husband’s was bacon—he had ordered sausage. He went up to return it and I noticed the young man with the roll of garbage bags was back, again standing among the other workers, just clutching his bags.

A woman who appeared to be the manager came to the counter and said bluntly, “What do you need?” My husband said, “This was supposed to be sausage, egg, and cheese.” She took the sandwich without saying a word, went to the tray where the food was, and came back with a new sandwich. She held it out to my husband and said “sausage, egg, and cheese”. No courtesy, no apology for the mistake, no thank you for waiting or being patient, nothing.

He came back with his sandwich, and the larger (6-8) group that had been behind us had just gotten their food. I could hear them announcing items on their trays, and some of them were things they didn’t order.

When we finally got up to leave, there were two people waiting for a food and a group of about 6 people waiting to order. I heard the managed say “… about 30 minutes”. The group shrugged, said okay, turned around, and left. While they were still walking out the door, one of the workers sighed loudly and said, “Thank God!” They were celebrating customers leaving, in front of all of the customers already there. Highly...

My bad. Won't happen again. Not the driver's issue either. Ordered for delivery. After the order placed, looking over the receipt. Almost 3 bucks delivery fee...almost 3 bucks service fee. For what? And don't get creative with words Hardee's management. Just about 6 Bucks! Not blowing smoke or talking out my rear...Hardee's has lost 3 customers. Paid a tip also to the driver. Driver said.. we don't get 100% of the service fee or delivery fee. Door Dash. What's with 2 fee's? Hurting for money that much that you screw over customers?? The almost 6 dollar fees were added to the Hardee's receipt. So...Door Dash gets part of the 2 separate fees as does Hardee's and the driver. Screwing over customers..already paid for the food. First time used a delivery service. We learned. Learned to not get screwed again. Yes, very disappointed in Hardee's. Almost 6 bucks added for deliver and we still tipped the driver for the cold meal. Hardee's and Door Dash are NOT paying the driver's insurance or fuel, etc...so...

Okay well this was one of the worst visits I have ever had at a Hardee's or anywhere else. The order taker was polite courteous and helpful. Nana ordered the chicken strips. I had ham and cheese sandwich. My food was fine but the chicken strips were dry and not very warm and were like trying to eat hard rubber. I took a bite from one and it was awful. So Nana took the chicken up to the manager and asked him to look at and he just flat out refused . So then she came back to me and we both went up and asked the manager for a refund and he yelled at us in a loud voice that he was not making refunds on chicken strips Friday . I said fine we can fix that. No refund we will never go back . I have never had a fast food manager anywhere yell at me I wish I had gotten the name of the main owner because I want to complain about the food and mostly about the manager. He was mean and rude I am going to try to contract corporate to lodge a major complaint . You have one...
