Edit: The restaurant's response pretty clearly represents their attitude toward their business and their customers -- it's my fault that they overcharged for a tiny portion of beans because I should have been happy with what they gave me. Again, I've eaten at countless Mexican restaurants around the country over the course of my life. The ones that don't gouge offer beans and rice with every combo, half rice/half beans, or a reasonable charge to add beans. They don't try to construct their combos to force additions, and they absolutely don't charge $4.25 (nearly 50%) to add a tiny portion of beans to a $9 lunch combo because that just is not reasonable! La Mesa just isn't concerned with the customer experience.
Poor value, mediocre food, borderline inattentive service. On the lunch special they forced a choice between rice and beans, which is already questionable, but when I asked for both the upcharge was $4.25 for a ladle full of beans. Charging that amount for a very small portion of beans is not reasonable and is out of line with other Mexican restaurants around the country, including at some pretty good spots near where I live in Chicago. La Mesa is taking advantage of the good people of Council Bluffs.
Everything was mediocre otherwise, except for the iced tea which was about as good as I’ve gotten in...
Read moreI'm a driver for Door Dash, I waited 35 minutes for a pick up order! I've picked up through them many times with no issue like this. I let them know I'm here to pick up for a dash order, proceed to wait 10 minutes I ask how much longer they tell me 5 minutes as I'm asking a gentlemen walks into the bar area orders TO-GO. A whole 10minutes later I see the host bring the man his food. I then ask her how much long will I be waiting for the customers food I'm delivering? She looks at me confused another host walks up I ask her why the gentlemen who walked in 10mintues after me placed his order had received his food before the customer who I was delivering to had as he placed his order nearly 15-20 minutes before the gentlemen had. She gets an obviously frustrated attitude with me saying that I'd have to wait, so I ask to speak to the manager as there appears to be an issue with the kitchen! They both run off, I wait another 10minutes for them to bring me the order.... To tell you I'm beyond frustrated!! Y'all are messing with my money and secondary income! Customer care needs improvement or to better explain the wait time and reason why. And when asked to get the manager...
Read moreWe went on a busy Sunday afternoon. Most of the other restaurants were full so we decided on La Mesa. When we walked in it was practically empty which was a major red flag since all the nearby restaurants were full to the brim. There was this old Mexican lady as our server. She asked what we wanted to drink but there wasn't a drink section on the menu. She listed off what they had to drink but the way she listed them made it look like she didn't want to be there. We ordered horchatas but they tasted like it was made out of goat milk and it was full of foam. We told the lady that it tasted wrong and if we could get another drink. She cut us off at the part where we said it tasted bad and she starter walking away. We had to call her over to tell her we wanted another drink. We finally got our second drink but the gas made the straws float up. I don't know if that's normal or if it isn't that why I'm including it. I ordered nachos and it was to cheesy to finish. The portions seemed like it could feed 2 people each. Nothing is better than abnormally large portions. God...
