Sr. Alberto Authentic — Restaurant in Covina

Yesterday May 20, 2019, around 11:03 pm I went to buy a burrito at Senor Alberto Mexican Food in Rosemead. I ordered a burrito de Asada. I turned around to get some condiments but one of the ladies was walking with the burrito saying was ready. I finished in grabbing my condiments and left with the burrito to eat. I eat the burrito but today around 6 am I started lots of stomach pain and I went to bathroom and released diarrhea. Then again around 7:15 am I had to go to bathroom and lots diarrhea. I called restaurant to let them know and the woman who answered says she will talk to owner and to call back. Again I had to go bathroom and do more diarrhea. I spoke with a chef friend whom told me that they can not have food cold for over 2 hours and they must thrown it because the city is very struck about. He told me that el sr Alberto Mexican Food people have me old food and that’s why the symptoms. I stalked again spoke with same lady saying she spoke with owner and wants me to return the burrito? What! What’s wrong with him or her. Oh course I eat it and that’s why symptoms developed. Well I asked to give me another burrito and I don’t want my money back. She says that they need burrito and the receipt. I told her I may not have it. I found the receipt and I called and I told her but she insist to bring the burrito with the receipt but needs to Tal to owner. That’s ridiculous as of now if this I am having stomach upset and I need to go restroom. I am so disappointed that because I been buying lots of burritos at this place and was my favorite in the area. But apparently the owner and employee are struggling to keep a restaurant open and not sure if pays well employees but they are stupid because if this diarrhea doesn’t stop I will go doctor and I will have to possibly file a claim against restaurant owner and report them to the health department and they will get in trouble. I already call my bank and visa will contact them to refund my money but if this diarrhea doesn’t stop perhaps I may look to file a claim. People don’t buy food from this restaurant until they do the right think and by apologizing to me for thinking the I am cheating them for food. There hundreds of restaurants where I can buy burritos but unfortunately they prepared one where the meat or something was bad. I am not going back there anymore and I ask you don’t go...

Really I'd give this place a 3.5...but since they are open 24 hours and there isn't much else in the area open 24 hours, I rounded it up to a 4.

I tried two burritos here based on previous reviews but from my experiences with other 24 hour places with good reviews, my expectations weren't very high.

That said, the breakfast burrito was actually better than expected. Not the best I've had but really not bad at all for a 24 hour joint. I wouldn't mind coming here for one of those when having late night cravings (probably even go during regular businesss hours for that).

The chicken burrito though was not that good in my opinion. I would give it a 2 (maybe a 3). I didn't even really want to finish it but that could have been partially because I had already eaten more than half of the breakfast burrito first because it was so good. (I meant to only taste a bite or two first and then try the chicken but that didn't work out too well, lol.)

However since the breakfast burrito was so much better I didn't really ding them too much on the chicken as long as they have other options that I know I do like. So I'm really glad I tried both this time around. Had I ordered only the chicken I would have been really disappointed and hungry and this would have been a very different review.

Service at a place like this is not as high of a priority for me. No wining and dining here, most likely just passing through the drive through, so pretty much as long as they are half decent and not rude then I'm satisfied. It was pretty late and they were quite nice so I was pretty satisfied there.

They have a large menu so plenty of options to choose from. All in all, I'd give it a 4 so far but I should probably go a few more times to be sure. Glad to see that there are some other 24 hour places besides Norms in the area. Not an amazing place but if you are in the area and got those late night cravings, this...

So not only did the kid in the drive through forgot to give me my daughters bean & cheese burrito, but when I called to advise them of what happened, (keep in mind I drove all the way home) the kid tells me to bring ALL the food back in the bag to verify that the burrito was missing😂😂😂 I go back n I tell the kid to give me my cash Instead, the idiot manager tells me he cannot do that. I tell him I don’t want the burrito, give me the cash back! He then tells me “well I’m gonna chk the cameras” I told him plz do, u think I’m gonna drive all the way back here to try n steal $3 for a fkn bean n cheese burrito that u guys forgot to put in the bag!!! 🤬🤬🤬After waiting five minutes the idiot comes back n tells the kid to give me my $3 n change bcuz they gave it to someone else... not once did the idiot apologize. after I received the $3 n change that he accused me of trying to steal I waited staring at the idiot, he finally looks up n says “oh sorry”😏🙄😏 Wow!!! Big props to the so called manager on duty tonight👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.... thanx to him I’ll never return to...
