I called the bakery on May 17 and placed an order for cookies and pizza strips to be picked up on May 21. I asked the woman I spoke to if this order would be freshly made the day we picked it up because we were going to an event out of state. She said yes, because it was pre-ordered. I asked if my pizza strips can be cut in half and she said yes. On May 21 at 7:15AM my husband and I went to the bakery. I informed an employee I was picking up my order and gave my name. She could not find the order and suggested that I may have made the mistake and called the wrong bakery. I told her I called the number on their menu and that now I was upset they did not have my order. The owner then came out and we let him now the problem. Rudely he said there was nothing he could do and we could just purchase what was there. I said I was supposed to get everything fresh. His responded that his cookies only made once a week on Tuesdays. He also told me that he would not cut pizza strips in half. He was not pleasant nor did he apologize. I asked if he would compensate me for their error (in my mind maybe 1 item free). Sarcastically, he said no. I said “apparently I was lied to”. He asked who I spoke to when I placed the order and then he saw my notes with his wife’s name, Tina, on it. He was not happy when I said that his wife/co-owner should’ve never gave me wrong information. He still never apologized for his wife’s mistake. My husband and I continued to make it clear we were not happy which apparently he did not like because he decided not to do business with us.    Read moreFor years, my family and I have gone to Calvitto's for bread and pastry. Each time, its been a good experience. The bread is excellent and the pastry was always top notch. The staff has always been pleasant, even if a bit young and inexperienced at times. Ray C. the owner even came out once from behind the counter and gave my son a free cupcake on one of our trips. Prices have crept up but where haven't they lately?
Fast forward to this past Wednesday, March 20. My wife went in and bought 6 zeppoles, 4 cinnamon twists, and 2 loaves of bread. The total came to $49. On Wednesday night, we shared one zeppole after dinner, it was delicious. On the next evening, we brought them to a family gathering and discovered that at least two of them had gone sour. We were a bit surprised. One would think that even cream pastry would not go bad one day after leaving the bakery. We decided to throw the rest out, why keep bad food?
My wife went to the bakery today asking for a refund and was told "no". She was told that she could get a refund if she brought back the zeppole so they could be examined. Do you guys really think I'm trying to soak you for 6 zeppoles? What's that a whopping $25?

   Read moreJust want to say thank you to the staff at CALVITTOS!! for doing such a great job! We had an incident with one of our orders which was at their other location. I was in a hurry and already late for my cousins surprise gender reveal party that I was RESPONSIBLE for. I was just running so behind on everything and literally on the brick of crying. Apparently I called the wrong store for 2 dozen mini pastry tray so it was at that location!!
The girl behind the counter was an absolute sweet heart. That's what I love about the place they hire such sweet local kids and they definitely made sure to train them on how to treat customers. She tried to calm me down and said let me get one of the managers for you and see what we can do. The manager explained that the mini pastry tray is a specially made order and they'd be loosing out on that if they can't resell it. I definitely understand it was an error on my end by placing the order at the wrong store. But the manager and the owner saw how flustered I was they offered to just make me 2 new trays quickly! Even if they loose out! They had the staff rushing around grabbing pastry's that they can make into a mini pastry tray and the trays came out perfect!! EVERYONE loved the pastry!
