Extremely disappointing experience at the crepe corner today! My mother and I have been excited to try this place and support the local business. I am a new mom and rarely have the opportunity to dine out, so I was looking forward to it.
We arrived today (a Sunday, around brunch time) with the baby sleeping in a stroller, and after perusing the menu we approached the counter. The cashier let us know that we should have a seat if we plan to dine-in. We agreed and let him know that we would take a table inside but would move outside if the baby awoke and got fussy or something.
After sitting at our table for almost twenty minutes, we still had not had a waiter arrive to take our order. We were really beginning to wonder what the holdup could be when a party of 10 people arrived and sat in the next table over. Not even a minute after, a waitress arrived and starting immediately taking each of their drink orders. Mind you, we still had not been approached and there are only two of us! To take ten people’s orders before us was just insane. My mother waived her hand to signal that we were also needing assistance, and the waitress brushed us off dismissively. We ended up leaving shortly after to eat elsewhere, and the experience really soured the mood and left us quite upset!
I also feel the need to mention that we are persons of color and the other table of people were not, as well as the rest of the customers in the establishment. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouth, even if that wasn’t the reason for our lack of service, you kind of have to wonder. Alternatively, we wondered if the sleeping baby in a stroller had something to do with it? In any case, we definitely won’t...
Read moreIn an attempt to share a review regarding the behavior of staff as well as the disgusting food I had to return because it was inedible, the owner proceeds to gaslight my husbands review stating that we were at fault. There is NO sign at the door stating the procedure of ordering, nor any servers why assist guests to avoid any mixups. As a heavily pregnant woman, I was belittled and talked down to in regards to seating even after explaining to the “server” what had happened. We were not informed of any seating arrangements until after we spent over almost $80 including tip for our completely inedible breakfast. My husband refused to give his food back because he was too hungry, I on the other hand returned my food due to blandness and watery chicken. There was NOT a hint of seasoning or basil which has a very distinct taste in a pesto. Whoever prepared the food used zero form of seasoning of any kind. A pesto is made with basil, pine nuts, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Olive oil was the ONLY ingredient used. The tomatoes as shown in the picture are in fact NOT fresh (I would know because I have grown them all of my life and also worked as a chef in Alaska). I could have been rude and asked for a full refund which is what I should have done, but I have a bit more respect in myself than to do that. As for the girl at the front who helped my husband and I put in our order, she was an absolute gem who stood up for the customers. As for the manager and owner, more training is required on your end as to what is appropriate and inappropriate when dealing...
Read moreSo let’s get real for a second, if you’re into eating local, like fresh delicious food and would love to be the guy who knows the best breakfast places, well, you need this place in your back pocket!
The place is a little hard to find, tucked away behind what used to be the old A&W on 44 in Greenville, but it is well worth a visit!
My wife and I tried the sweet and savory crepes as well as some coffee and beignets, and let me tell you, every bite had quite some character!
The sweet crepes were perfectly balanced, just enough fresh fruits to give it sweetness and a nice drizzle of chocolate to bring it over the top (technically my wife ordered this but I may have snuck a couple bites, shhhh).
The savory crepe (Jessica’s Fav) had a little bit of a twist I hadn’t noticed when reading, which is that the vegetables are raw, which was a surprise but actually really enhanced the cooked caramelized onions and overall fish flavor. The sauce in this crepe was delicious, not sure if it was part of the onions or what but it can only be described as “om nom nom”.
The coffee and the beignets were also phenomenal but if you’re still reading this you’re silly, hop in your car and try this place out!
Friendly staff, atmosphere with character, great food and just generally a hidden gem in the area.
Well worth a drive if you’re looking for a good place to get some...
