I’m sad to write this review because I absolutely love the village but I was at the bar outside the other night and overheard the bartender (she was blonde) snapping at people for bringing outside food over to the bar. While I do understand that, she was EXTREMELY rude about it to a point where I had second hand embarrassment and decided to leave. The reason I’m writing this is because, it’s not obvious at all which restaurant that bar belongs to. If anything she, didn’t offer anybody a food menu so I just figured it was a community bar. The sign in front is extremely small and the letters are very faint. I also overheard her talking to a customer about how a guy sat in the wrong section, I guess closer to the bagel shop, asking the bartender if she was going to wait on them and the bartender said “No, you’re not sitting in the right section”. Clearly I’m not the only one who thinks it’s not that obvious which restaurant that bar belongs to considering the front door of your restaurant is on the side of the building. Totally understand that these things happen but there was a massive lack of courtesy and respect. Maybe some sort of barrier needs to be made because for somebody who’s never been to that outside bar before, I had absolutely no clue it was a...
Read moreWow. I’ve never had an experience quite so awful to warrant an immediate negative review. Came in casually, on a Sunday night with a friend for a late bite to eat. Half the establishment was being used for a staff party so we chose to sit at the bar. Less than 10 minutes into being there and barely 2 since our drinks arrived, we were accosted by a man also sitting at the bar telling us we were “too loud” and disruptive, despite him previously yelling amongst a party of 4 meanwhile 60 people in a private party dance and yell around us. When we tried to discuss with the owner we were told to”hug it out” and be more accommodating. Meanwhile the customer in question was about to close and leave. We were told to either move seats or leave. The man in question must have been relayed to the owner, Dean, we were speaking to because he had no concern for our well being or comfort or the fact we were new customers willing to spend money on a nice meal. The male customer continued to laugh and make fun of us as we waited for our food to go and the owner did nothing about it as we left. If you want to feel taken care of as a customer do NOT ATTEND THIS...
Read moreA nice casual place with wonderful American style food. We showed up 6 pm on Valentine's Day (we had forgotten), without a reservation, and the hostess still found us a table. The service is very good, our server went to the kitchen twice just to check whether a dish was gluten free for my mom's celiac. And the food!! Mom had one of the valentine's specials, a baked haddock with garlic sweet potatoes and asparagus. She enjoyed all of it. I had the NY Strip steak sandwich, which has caramelized onions, mushrooms, and cheese melted over all. The steak was the best I've had in years, on or off a sandwich - perfectly cooked, juicy tender and full of flavor. We finished off with coffee and dessert: flourless chocolate cake for mom, creme brulee for me. The first bite of that creme brulee almost killed me with delight, it is so good! The only downside is that parking in the Village can be a challenge, especially if you aren't used to driving here. You'll probably have to walk a block or two - but it's...
