We don't have a Texas Roadhouse here in NYC, so when I visited Rhode Island, I HAD to try it.
Visited around 3:10PM which is ten minutes after opening, so as expected, the restaurant was fairly empty and relatively clean. My party and I were greeted promptly, asked if we wanted to choose our own steak from their meat selection (we didn't because we didn't know what we wanted to order yet), and were seated in a comfortable booth.
Our waitress came to our table within a minute or so with the menus and was friendly and attentive. She brought out the AMAZING bread rolls with cinnamon butter around the same time as our drinks which were also very good. I got the blue raspberry lemonade and it wasn't too sweet as I sometimes fear when ordering any flavored lemonades.
The Cactus Blossom was also good, but a bit too crumbly. I think Outback Steakhouse does the whole fried onion thing a little better, but definitely not a huge deal. If you like Outback's, you'll probably like this one. As for the chili and my main course, (beef tips with mashed potatoes and vegetables), I was pretty content with the flavor of everything and the steak was cooked to perfection.
No, I was not blown away by anything, but the food met my expectations which is good enough for me to grant this establishment 5-stars.
Some extras that I would like to note is that the restroom was very clean which is something that's important to me because I don't trust eating a restaurant with a dirty restroom & also, my party and I did feel a LITTLE bit rushed when the waitress brought the bill without prompt roughly 10 minutes after we received our main courses.
It was a Friday at around 4:00 PM by then though so we understood that the late afternoon crowd was starting to come in and so they were likely just trying to seat more people so we didn't really perceive it as rude, especially because she was pretty friendly throughout our time there.
Furthermore, a lady who I assume was the manager of the establishment came around that same time and asked all of the tables how they were doing and if everything was okay which is always a plus for me. Love seeing a manager who actually cares about...
Read moreWell, my experience was awful. I sat down with my three kids and my sister after waiting 30 minutes for a table last Sunday. Our servers name was hard to pronounce but she was a dark skinned heavy set female. She came to our table and we asked if there were any drink specials. She said she doesn’t drink so she’s not sure. We both ordered margaritas with the Patron kickers and the kids ordered flavored lemonade and we got the fried pickles app. Our server took our order and walked away. When our app got there it was delish and our drinks were nearly finished but our server was nowhere in sight so getting another margarita was out of the question. Then our food came out. Three Andy’s steaks an 8 oz filet and and a salmon. My kids steals we’re supposed to be medium well and mine was supposed to be medium. The kids steak were med rare. Mine was well done. Mashed had so much butter and sour cream that the entire plate was cold before I started eating. Either way another server stopped our food off and we realized we had no silverware aside from the fact that the salmon never came. It took 10 minutes before I approached a staff member for ya to even be acknowledged as having an issue. I told her we needed silverware and my sister salmon hadn’t come out yet. You would not believe the dry hardened mess they brought to the table for my sister to consume. Our server was ghost. She didn’t return until I physically grabbed another server walking by and demanded the check. Never did a manager come and ask how things were going but I saw her walking around. I handed the manager my cash and told her the table number before I left I was seated by the restrooms she will remember. That was the worst 100$ plus I ever spent. Not going back would be an understatement. I’m a server and I have 10 tables at a time I would be fired if I ever showed this work ethic. Where’s the working as a team??? You lost a few...
Read moreI'm so sad to say that after 6 poor attempts at take out, I'm boycotting Texas Roadhouse. They have managed to move from a 5 star alllll the way down to one star for me. The first two times, I can understand. It gets busy, things are missing, fine. The 3rd and 4th time, my whole order was wrong. My shrimp was even missing from my steak and shrimp combo. My husband's smothered steak wasn't smothered. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were perfect every time in between. But the 5th and 6th time, shame on me, really. I should have stopped going. But, my husband likes their steak, when done correctly. So this last time, I ordered Prime Rib. Got a call back, no prime rib. Fine, I'll swap for the Dallas Filet. Medium rare please. Broccoli on the side. Well..... when I get home, my poor husband, once again, is missing one of his sides, his brown gravy is not there either, his dressing for the salad that was supposed to be on the side was on it, no extra side dressing either. My order was cooked rare! Not appetizing!! My side of broccoli? Well, I did get it, but it looks like the prime rib I originally wanted ended up at the bottom of my broccoli cup. Yup. That must be why I couldn't get it. They now serve it underneath your side of broccoli people!! Disgusting. I'm literally so disgusted. At this point, keep your vouchers please. I can't do it anymore. I'm sorry. But when I find unwanted gifts in my food, that's where I draw the line. There is no excuse for that. I almost feel like it was done on purpose. How could they not notice? Please think twice before ordering from here. There is obviously someone on their staff that gets a kick out of putting other people's food scraps in unsuspecting customers take out food. If I get sick, I know why. I spat that broccoli out so fast after I saw that beef underneath!!!...
