I said never again below, but when I seen that this restaurant had Hibachi Sea Scallops and Miso Soup for Lunch, I decided to go and Yamato sure did NOT disappointed. I got Hibachi Sea Scallops with Mushrooms in the most delicious sauce I ever tasted, fried rice and broccoli along with a toss salad and Miso Soup along with hot tea.
The meal I had today was the best and I mean the BEST food I ever eaten since I lived in Crawfordsville. The Umami taste brought this very delicious food to new heights for me. The food and tea was hot.
I really like the oriental way my food was served as well which made the atmosphere so much nicer. Will be trying some of their other Hibachi dishes as well. Though I'm diabetic my plate was well balanced so I was able to eat the rice as well. My own Japanese food that I fix at home isn't this good.
No doubt I will be back soon to eat again. I just came back from our Yamato Japanese Steakhouse Restaurant and it was a real disappointed because the food was barely edible.
The Tempura didn't have any seasoning. Everything else tasted like it was left over from the day before. The fried rice was swimming in oil and not sticky at all which made it difficult for me to eat with chopsticks. The sushi tasted fishy.
The only thing that was good and can be easily eaten with chopsticks was the salad. And the spring roll tasted pretty good too as well as the clear soup, but only 2 lousy sliced mushrooms floating around.
That waitress must not know how to make change because she never gave me my change.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO IN THAT PLACE.
I will just continue to cook my Japanese...

Suggested this location for a date. Date said years ago he got sick from their food but maybe better now. We go to lunch... Red Flag #1 - date's prior experience Red Flag #2 - the place was empty Red Flag #3 - the staff did not care about providing good service Red Flag #4 (and possible SEVERE health food violations) - we order 4 sushi rolls, immediately after, the "sushi chef" in the back kitchen hockers so loud FOUR TIMES we can hear it at our table! Needless to say, loss of appetite, didn't eat the food, and NEVER EVER EVER RETURNING. It's a shame bec really like sushi and wanted to bring a lot of business lunches here. By far the grossest, most unprofessional thing I/we have ever experienced in a restaurant. Even if the dude/chef had a cold he should have taken that nasty sh!t outside. No one wants to hear you clear your wad of phlegm right after they order their food. And if you are doing the ungodly - vengeance is the Lord's! This is why ppl don't eat out anymore bec you have ppl like this "working". DISGUSTING & VERY UNPROFESSIONAL & POSSIBLE HEALTH CODE ISSUES! Horrible experience. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo my wife and I came there for our third anniversary. The food was excellent. We ordered the bento box . The restaurant is clean and seating was appropriate. Service was very good. Our waitress checked up on us every few minutes and not too many minutes to where it became an annoyance. The lobster rangoon taste probably a lot like the crab Rangoon, except it just has the word lobster in front of it. That being said, the miso soup was amazing. The boxes were OK. I see that they were OK because the salad was warm and not cold, but it was still crisp, and so was the sushi. The main course, which was the scallops in sauce, the sauce was a little bit on the overly sweet side. Iām going to be shaking for quite a while with a sugar rush. That being said, overall, this is an excellent place to eat, and I would...
