Gustavo's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Crestwood

I picked up carry out from Gustavo’s for the first time ever on Friday. I usually dine in and never have a bad experience. From the time I placed the order until I actually received it I was probably waiting a good 45 minutes - an hour minimum for my food. Why the 5 star’s? Because customer service is key. They were very polite the entire time and were clearly slammed/packed. I have a lot of respect for servers and people in the restaurant industry, especially during the pandemic. At one point I did politely try to cancel my order because I simply couldn’t wait much longer, I had somewhere to be. I was not rude about it because I had no reason to be. Caroline was a sweetheart and apologized for my wait and told me she couldn’t refund me or anything at that time but asked me to come back the next day to speak to a manager to see what they could do. I didn’t end up doing that. There were tons of other people waiting and because of their professionalism, no one was bothered and understood. Literally the most chaotic restaurant experience I’ve ever had in my life. Came in with a party of 7, they sat us outside, server was quick to bring us chips, salsa, and to get our drink order. After we received our drinks, we sat for over 20 mins waiting to order. We were all miserable from the heat, and decided to just ask for the check so we could go somewhere else. They apologized and said they could move us inside. Great! We get inside and it was another 20 mins before anyone took our order. We had no idea who our server was because there were 3 different servers who waited on us. One of the people in our party is allergic to onions, and requested no onions in their dish, which came out with onions. They ordered a different dish, it also came out with onions, on the third try they just ordered steak tacos with cheese, and they brought them chicken tacos. Food was mediocre all around. For the first time, I recently visited the Crestwood location in a party of 6. Surprisingly, none of us ordered any of the food specials. However, what food we did order was prompt & hot. We all said our food, tacos, burritos, & Mexican salad, tasted very good. Upon our arrival, the server immediately brought us chips & salsa & kept filling the bowls when they were empty. The chips were fresh &, to me, salsa is basically salsa anywhere you go so I got a bowl of queso & it was good. I thought the margaritas were good, too. 5 of the 6 of us had at least 2 of them. They were priced a little higher than some of the other places we have gone so if I was just going for the drink alone, I'd probably go elsewhere. Overall, it was a very good experience.
