My son and I are regulars here (we visit sometimes up to 3-5 times a month). So much so that we have our favorite booth and our waitress pretty much knows our order by heart. I often switch between coke and unsweetened ice tea, so that is the only thing she normally has to clarify. Other than that she knows our appetizer choices, salad choice, and how we like our filet mignon cooked. The flavors are not Americanized, which means it is not overly sweet. (I haven't tried all the items that may have sugar in it, for the most part what I have ordered has not been sticky sweet). The flavors are much closer to authentic Japanese flavors than most Japanese restaurants, or Japanese fusion places we have eaten at. So this is always a pleasant surprise. We will continue to visit for as long as they are open and we are living in Crossville. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are allergic to shellfish or seafood, just let the waitress know and the chef will prepare your meal accordingly. I happen to be allergic to both, and considering they service a ton of seafood, I have never had a reaction. (I do carry an epi-pen just in case). Since I have a sefood allergy, they can make specialized rolls. For me, I get one with soy paper, rice avocado, cucumber and danmuji (yellow pickled radish) and cream cheese and sesame seeds. Sometimes the avocado is on the top and it looks pretty. I can enjoy the sensation of sushi without the negative of going into anaphalactic shock. Win-win.

My wife and I are huge fans of sushi. We moved here from Nashville about a year and a half ago, and we were prepared to face the fact that high quality sushi was a thing of the past. Then we discovered this restaurant. The sushi they prepare is expertly crafted with enough variety to give anyone and everyone a roll they will fall in love with. Each roll we get is a work of art, and the little intricate designs of sauce the sushi chef adorns the plates with makes each roll we order photo-worthy. We were shocked when we first sat down in this restaurant over a year ago. And pleasantly surprised that the quality remained incredibly high on each subsequent visit. They truly rival some of our favorite sushi stops in even the largest of cities. Additionally, the service has been the best we’ve experienced in Crossville, and consistently at that. The attentive, knowledgeable, and polite wait staff coupled with the quality of food has made this, hands down, the best restaurant we have experienced in Crossville. And we have experienced virtually every restaurant here at this point. Our only wish is for the owners to expand to a larger, more modern building to give their food and service the atmosphere it deserves. After over a dozen visits (and zero disappointments in any capacity), I can say confidently that they have truly EARNED our loyalty as customers.

My first trip to Tokyo (in Crossville...as I toured Tokyo Japan a few years back, so I can appreciate good sushi). The setting was, well, Im told a former Taco Bell, so it did ferl a bit 'fast foody.' However, the service and food made up for that. They took our temps upon entering, which I guess is their way to try to fight Covid. Ive had it, so I dont stress it too much. It seems all servers work all tables, so they were attentive to our needs. Ive served and bartended, so I always look for great service. Three of us shared some spring rolls (which were fried. I rather have fresh wrapped but I didnt read it closely enough. They were good enough as most fried foods are!) and some great edamame. We then had the ashley and rainbow roll (delicious!) And three traditional rolls off the 3 for $10.99 lunch menu. The food was all delicious and fish in sushi tasted incredibly fresh. No Sapporo beer, I guess due to virus and being able to get any in. They did offer Corona and Heinekin, along with all the standard American beers. Overall, the experience was a good surprise and a great value with good service. We were so hungry, I completely forgot food pics. Lol

Let’s start with the summary. Very good food, great attentive service and reasonably priced. The details: As many reviews mention, first glance of the exterior sells the place short. Pretty obvious the building was probably a 1980’s Taco Bell. It is however, on one of the main drags thru town. Making it convenient to get to. Appears to be family owned and staffed. Our server was young, but very personable, attentive and knowledgeable. Then the Food; I love Sushi and live in Rockwood about 35 mins away. Rockwood is small and really doesn’t have a sushi option I would trust. Sorry local “A #1 Chinese Buffet” here in town with 2 day old California rolls on the buffet. Crossville is the closest metropolitan area that has real Sushi made by a sushi chef. Tokyo Steakhouse did not disappoint! Lots of specialty roll options, plus all the standard Sushi fare. I had the Godzilla roll & yellow tail nigiri. Quality of the Sushi is excellent. Maybe the most tender fresh yellowtail tuna I’ve had in years. Ginger was fresh, wasabi also tasty, & rice better than average. My wife ordered hibachi. She raved about it being better than the Chain Asian hibachi options in Knoxville. Steak & scallops cooked perfectly. Scallops were not fishy or spongy, steak was tender and delicious. Multiple sauce options. She went with ginger sauce and the mayo style seafood sauce. Both outstanding. They offer some very interesting dessert options. We split the tempura fried cheesecake. Holy Cow!! A must try! This will be our new Asian food and Sushi option! Now, for the the only criticism (so you know this is a real review). The portions are lighter than most other Japanese steakhouses. The pricing is also better/lighter. For example, due the mountain of fried rice that lands on your plate, when leaving the chain place, I always leave with a to go box. Didn’t need one here. My Godzilla roll was sliced into 9 pieces. They were 1/3” thick vs 3/4” elsewhere. Thusly $12 roll vs $18. My yellowtail nigiri though very tasty, a smaller portion than the standard I’ve had in the past. All in all, a great...

My wife and I have been coming here since we first moved here in September of 2021. We were very pleased with the food, atmosphere and cost of the food. We were coming here twice a month and sometimes three times a month. We were always pleased. Due to several issues in our lives, we were not able to come here in about two and half months. We decided to go to dinner last night (Friday 23 rd of September). We were surprised by the new menu, but knowing that restaurants across our State and Country have been dealing with challenges like some have never seen before. We understood that some things have had to change. So we processed to order dinner. We had Seaweed Salad, Vegetable Tempura, 1 Spider Man Roll and 1 Mango Angel Roll. The Seaweed Salad wasn’t bad, but it lacked the flavor that we enjoyed in the past. The 2 Rolls were totally different than we have eaten here in the past. They were wrapped in what we believed was rice paper and not seaweed as they normally are wrapped in. Both were just okay in our opinion. No where near as good as in the past. The only added item was a Lime Ricky, which was nothing like the Lime Rickies that I have had, over my lifetime. Needless to say that we were very disappointed. Maybe in the future we might come back and try the food again. But it may be a lot longer than the two and a half months. PS: I must saw that reading some of the other reviews. I wondered if we had dinner at a different restaurant??? Maybe we just got the wrong cook. We will see. Paul...
