The Next Couple Reviews will be on Cheese Curds I am trying to compare the ones from local Chicago (well, I mean Algonquin which is somewhat close to Chicago), Culver’s, and Culver’s/Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I would call myself a decent lover of cheese. I really like it on certain things like pizza, bread, pastas etc but don’t have it on a daily basis and haven’t been too crazy about it. I’m sure that’s about to change when I go to the cheese capital of the country!!
These cheese curds were ready and hot in 3 minutes! They tasted very good although a bit too greasy. What I mean by that is grease was on the napkins in the bag, on the bag itself, and a good amount was on my fingers after eating…
Besides that, the curds had just the right amount of salt. Light, crunchy batter with a soft, yet audible crunch. The center was nice, chewy and cheesy. White (no yellow), thin cheesy center. Positive cheese pull test- very long stringy cheese pull. 8/10 for flavor and 8/10 for quality.
Some clusters had more cheese than others but overall very enjoyable. I love it and wonder how/if the ones in Wisconsin will stack up!!
Price before tax = $4.95 for a med-large bag Worth the calories?...
Read moreCame here with High Hopes after looking at the menu online. We had the award winning Italian (meat was good, the French roll was extremely tough, almost stale- and there was some generic storebought Italian dressing on it that ruined any remaining flavor of the veggies) the chili cheese dog (the dog and chili were ok but the pretzel bun was clearly microwaved marking it extremely tough and chewy, topped with a half melted American cheese slice 🥲) the fried chicken bacon ranch sandwich (the only decent sandwich out of the 3) and for the sides fried pickle spears (incredible) and curly fries (good). I hope we came in on an off day because this was a literal laughable experience all around, from being charged for the wrong drink size to the menus having incorrect prices on just about...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I eat out quite a bit. This place blew us away with its low pricing and phenomenal food. We have visited multiple times and try something new every visit. Everything on the menu is unique and delicious. The food is reason enough to keep you coming back but the staff is some of the most friendly and personable I have ever met. You can tell they really care about every guest that enters. In addition to being a great taste, low-cost food given to you by the friendliest staff in town they also give free delivery if going out isn't an option. Breaking Bread has everything that makes a perfect restaurant and then some. If you haven't given them a visit...
