Lake Roots — Restaurant in Crystal Lake

We came on a Wednesday night as a large group from the dental practice. Accommodations for us were perfect in the 'garden room' glassed in. At first, we were all expecting to be uncomfortably cold. However, new owner has SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVED THE PERFECT BALANCE IN TEMPERATURE! Next up:Service...OUTSTANDING! Our server was a young lady of 23 yrs old. We were all lovingly braced for some "hiccups" or delays along the way since she was serving such a large group alone. SHE HIT IT OUTTA THE PARK!! AWESOME, FLAWLESS SERVICE and we ALL APPRECIATE YOU! Next: FOOD: BEAUTIFULLY PLATED,EXCELLENT FLAVOR,FRESH INGREDIENTS. We had such a variety off the menu that I honestly don't know what all I was trying (I don't have grown up tastebuds). But I can honestly say the entire team was DEVOURING EVERYTHING saying "OMG this is delicious, you gotta try it" every 30 seconds. Lastly: The NEW OWNER who was rounding on each and every table in the house: you arrived at our table, asked and showed interest in our feedback(which most really don't). Asked if we were warm enough, about the food, the service, etc. EVERYTHING from start to finish was SUPERB!!! I'm someone who grew up with grandparents who owned and ran highly successful restaurants for over 40 years. The new owner's demeanor toward everything reminded me so much of childhood memories. SHOUT OUT TO THIS OWNER FOR HIS ABILITY TO BRING A FABULOUS TEAM, FOOD AND VISION TOGETHER. Y'all NAILED IT❤️ AND I grew some grown-up taste buds this evening 🥰 You should ALL give yourselves a standing ovation since the dream and vision can't work without you. Thank you for the fabulous food,service and atmosphere where one great work team can gather after work and enjoy comraderie together. I KNOW I'll be returning again soon with my personal family...

We’ve had only one meal so far, sharing an in-house roasted turkey Harvest Melt sandwich on soft & fluffy Pinsa (look it up!) and their loaded Breakfast Bowl with a side of perfect bacon.

Now that they’re open for real, after years of planning, it won’t be long before we’re back to enjoy much more.

I do kinda miss the tradition formerly based on this spot. We picked up their ‘party beef’ special more than a few times.

Now that Lake Roots has reimagined this spot as an elegant, spacious new venue, you’ll be happy as to what they’re cooking up (not just with food!) unfolds!

The owners truly have their roots here in CL, and that makes a big difference in today’s world.

We stoped in after basketball practice for some take-out. This place is beautiful! Everyone was friendly, helpful and happy, but for real, not fake nice, trully lovely people. The food was delicious. My child and I nibbled on a pint of ice cream while we waited for our food to be done, we had a lovely time waiting, who would have thought! The flatbread pizza was soft, chewy and crisp, absolutely delicious. The warm freshly made potato chips were a great surprise. The pasta tasted like something i would make at home ( in my dreams), in the best way possible, elevated and lovely, fresh crisp veggies perfectly balanced and delicious. We are planning our next visit. The vibe, oh, the vibe is just perfect. Comfortable yet sophisticated. Lake Roots is just what we needed. It is clear that the owners know what they are doing.
