A friend and I came on Sunday 5/7/23 around 10:30am for breakfast before heading to Crumps for the day. Upon arrival, my guest and I decided to dine at the bar area as there was immediate seating available, however the open seating still had dirty dishes from the before patrons. The waitress was polite and friendly as she took our drink and food orders. We both ordered the grand slam breakfast with intent on getting breakfast cocktails once the food arrived. Shortly after ordering, I glanced into the kitchen and noticed the staff were not wearing proper hairnets but instead flimsy paper boat hats. Shortly after our food was up and ready. Once the food got to the table I started to salt and pepper my meal when I noticed there was a long black hair laying under my bacon slices. My guest was instantly disgusted and no longer wanted to dine in the establishment. The waitress noticed our discomfort from the foods arrival and rushed over to ask if everything came out ok. I informed her of the situation, pointing out the hair in the food. Once discovering the hair, she quickly apologized and dumped the plate before heading back to ask for a remake. This is where the visit went from bad to unacceptable. After asking the cook on duty for a remake, and with us being in earshot of him, he barked back "Why I just sent that out"? She explained to him there was a hair in the food. The cook then looked directly at us from the kitchen window and asked the waitress "Well, did you see it and are you sure it isn’t his"? I was now infuriated and told them to forget it and that we were leaving. I tipped the waitress 5 dollars for her time as we gathered our belongings. The manager on duty came over to us as we were about to exit apologizing that she overheard the situation and guaranteed the cook will be talked to. However, the cook was allowed to return to his station and continue working as an effort to keep him out of our path. Easy to say we will never be returning and ended up having a much better time at the Breakfast Station nearby before a fun...
Read moreMy husband and I have rediscovered Denny's! Having relocated to Florida from Indiana, we have been looking for the perfect breakfast restaurant, since we both love breakfast at any time of the day . We've tried a number of places in the Hernando area and found them to be okay, but when we went to Denny's, it was an entirely different experience for us. The one in Crystal River is closest to us; just fourteen miles. A nice drive and a lovely location. We have been there quite a few times now and always look forward to our visits. The last time, on Sunday, we took our visiting kids since we all love Denny's. Hubby and I have sampled other Denny's, but the one in Crystal River is by far the very best, for several reasons. The food is always prepared perfectly. Our very favorite is the amazing pancakes. Never had any before that could touch them. They're light and airy, but substantial and thoroughly satisfying. We have an order of pancakes even if we're having the regular lunch menu. They're a perfect dessert! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the wonderful staff. We've had several different wait persons, but Shane absolutely goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. He has become familiar with our choices and has our drinks at the table before we can say a word. Such a lovely young man, and I can see that he takes care of all his customers with the same enthusiasm. As we were leaving on Sunday, I was lucky enough to meet the manager, who was training a new employee at the register. What a lovely lady. She took the time to chat and that interaction added a lot to our visit. I can see why she is so important to the way the restaurant operates and why her staff is so fond of her. Sorry for the long review, but I wanted you to know what a great place you all have in Crystal River. We will certainly continue to be...
