If we could give zero stars based on customer service, believe me, we would. A take out order was placed using a card that was not in my name, owner of card specified that she does not place tips on take out orders. Picked food up, Bryan the owner, checked me out. Upon seeing that no tip was left, began to berate me in front of customers about leaving a tip for someone that bagged the food, as he repeatedly let me know that it took 20 minutes to do so. I informed him twice that unfortunately, it was not my card, and the card owner did not want to tip, and I am not comfortable leaving a tip (I was just picking up, had nothing to do with the order) and that if it was an issue, he was welcome to call the owner of the card and take it up with them. He continued to berate me, but then refused to give me the bags of food, insisting that he walk them out to my car. It was clear that his intentions for carrying them out were for continuing to tell me how it was my problem that the cardholder did not tip, how I was in the wrong, etc. Again, I told him twice that it was not my place, even understanding the industry, but as it was not my card and I was just picking up, it was not my place. When the owner of the card heard of this, she called and asked to speak to the owner or manager, and was told that he was busy. She left a message with the waitress stating how unprofessional she thought it was and how it was rude, and the lady answering the phone was no better in attitude, stating that that was not what happened and that I had made the entire thing up. Food is decent as far as diners go, but the professionalism is nonexistent. While I understand the frustration, this should have been dropped as soon as I said that the card was not in my name and the owner did not wish to tip. Their reasons for not tipping are their own, and regardless of ideals by others, should have been respected. Will tell whoever I can to go to Breakfast Station...
Read moreWhile I usually rely on web based reviews when scoping out my next stop, today's visit came from a local when asked where is the best breakfast slot locally. The glow in her eyes and passion in her voice made it clear that the Biscuit Barn would be a stop whole in the Crytal River area. A big thanks to Ananada from Cody's for this recommendation. While I did have full faith in her, I did see that the reviews were through the roof anyway.
Stopped in midweek for some breakfast and was able to sit down right away woth seating at a table or the counter. Being solo, opted for the breakfast counter to be able to interact with the staff and fellow counter patrons. As soon as I say down, my drink order was placed and I was sipping on my coffee.
With so many great options to choose from picking a meal was not easy. Ended up picking the Big Barn 4 egg Farmers Omlette (Bacon, Ham Sausage) that came with potatoes and a biscuit. Being down south, had to have the gravy with my biscuit at least one time, especially since I was on vacation.
Order came out pretty quick and it was delicious. The service was fantastic and my cup never ran dry. While I could not this meal every day (well I actually could but should not), it was a tasty breakfast that was awesome.
Loved the charm if this place and felt at home especially since it was decorated for Christmas. The southern hospitality was great in the staff were super friendly and treated me as if I were a local. When returning to the area, will definitely be back. Needless to say, I joined The Biscuit Barn clean plate club this morning.
For those reading and about to embark on this food adventure, definitely recommend stopping in at the Crystal River preserve State Park - Churchouse Hammock Trail to walk off some of the breakfast. It a small trail loop that was...
Read moreHubby and I went in this am . We both ordered the biscuit barn special. This is 2 eggs 2 sausage 2 bacon hash browns or home fries, biscuit or toast. I ordered my eggs over easy...they came out with the egg yolk still raw, I subbed 4 bacon for the sausage option, the bacon came out cold and rubbery, I ordered the home fries crispy but not deep fried they came cooked on one side and white and soggy on the other. I brought this to the attention of one of the owners a lady and she offered to take the home fries I've already had at my table and tasted and take them back from my plate to cook longer.. I said no thanks that's not clean, actually a major health violation, by this point my husband was just as appalled as I was and we left our food and decided to leave. We let them know nothing they offered was cooked properly and to our liking and we were leaving. I had ordered a coffee and and ice water hubby a stary. We both had a few sips of our drinks before our food came. The lady owner was like you're not even gonna pay for your drinks I was like sure I literally had a half a coffee and went to grab my wallet she was like just don't come back. First of all I will never come back cold uncooked food substandard food handling practices and treating your customer like they were wrong for the crappy food they tried to serve. People I wouldn't eat here if a customer has a problem with their food it's probably going from their plate back to the kitchen to be fixed which is against so many health codes. If this is the way they treat paying customers and the food they serve them they don't deserve to be in business. Shame on you Biscuit Barn and I will be calling the health inspector to report your...
