We went around 3pm today so I was able to try some of their German food. Decided on the Käse Schnitzel with pan fried potatoes, and I had asked for German potato salad but received French Fries instead. Not sure if they were out or something, no explanation was given, but to be fair no explanation was asked for. Wasn't that serious for me. But it does lead me into my one complaint...the service. It left a lot to be desired. Our waitress took our order, brought drinks & food, and made sure our cups weren't empty. So the basics of serving were well accomplished. Her manner is where I take issue. Not placing things on the table or handing them to us, but slinging things on the table. I also had to walk to the register to ask for a to go box, as our waitress was out front smoking a cigarette. Nothing appalling happened but the service was nothing to write home about either.
Now with that out of the way...here's the good stuff! My schnitzel was delicious! I lived in Europe for 3 years and then in Tampa where I had my favorite restaurant, Mr. Dunderbak's, and while I'm definitely not a schnitzel connoisseur, I do know a thing or two about good schnitzel, and that was good schnitzel. I think it could be a great schnitzel though by trying a smoked Gouda béchamel sauce rather than just the melted Gouda. My husband's hamburger was also very tasty and he devoured it. So no complaints there.
I thought I would have to drive to Huntsville or possibly back to Tampa again to have some good schnitzel, so I'm pleasantly surprised to find some just a couple of blocks from home. All in all it was a good experience and we will return.
Also, last bit I promise, Busy Bee Cafe, if you're reading this I would like to make a dessert suggestion. Knowing that you plate up some good German dishes, I would love to see Bienenstich (Bee Sting Cake) as a staple on the menu. Mostly because I love it and don't want to drive to Florida for it. But also because you're the Busy Bee Cafe!! It's the perfect...

I'm a truck driver from out of state. My terminal is here in Cullman and so I keep a motorcycle here to get out and ride if I have extra downtime.
Today was a day with extra downtime and I decided I wanted breakfast someplace other than the usual. I typed in breakfast places in Google Maps and found this place.
I had 2 eggs over-medium, sausage patties, biscuit and gravy.
The eggs were done PERFECT. The sausage patties were PERFECT. The biscuit was fluffy and delicious. 😋 The gravy is a standard white pepper gravy. I prefer a sausage gravy but this gravy has FLAVOR so it was all quite delicious.
Now, to the atmosphere. This is a GREAT down-home diner. They were packed when I was there about 9AM. Everyone was friendly.
Is service fast or perfect? Nope! It's a packed out diner! Why is it packed out? My guess is that it's popular with the locals for the quality of food and the friendliness.
So, if you've gotta have service immediately and that is more important to you, go somewhere else, Karen. However, if you can be patient, you should go enjoy a FANTASTIC meal with GREAT people who work hard to make your time here...
Read moreWent at 12:15 on a Friday. Plenty of bar space available but no tables. This matched with Googles bar graph of busy. I got the cheese burger with onion rings. Good onion rings. Batter is thick and crispy. Cheese burger was exactly what I was going for. When my friend asked what I was in the mood for, I said, "Greasy." This will hit that spot for sure. I gave service a 4. The waitress forgot she hadn't taken out order for a good bit. It wasn't a big deal as my friend and I were plenty happy to chat. My friend got the cheeseburger but did double patty double cheese. By the time he'd eaten half of it, he requested a fork because it had fallen apart. Just something that happens when you get a greasy diner burger, but making you aware. The place is clean, with TVs facing many directions. The news was playing on the TV facing us. Didn't look at others to see if something else was playing. Staff was very nice. The kitchen/grill is open to view if you're at the bar. The Busy Bee is a Cullman go to for...
