Still thinking about the Portuguese Calamari and fresh baked bread from this place… but seriously, do yourself a favor and book your reservation for your next night out. Tucked neatly just off RT. 99 in Cumberland, RI this place is worth stopping and staying for a while.
From the start we were greeted by a very inviting hostess ready to seat us (even though we were a bit early). There aren’t many places in the area with comfortable temp controlled outdoor eating environments. This Andrews Bistro is just that, weather you’re looking to dine in the sun, or maybe in the chill of late fall, the restaurant has accommodations to keep you happy and comfortable any time of year.
We started with the sangria which was perfect, not too sweet and just the right amount of the good stuff. We please early surprised with the fresh baked bread, which literally just came out of the oven. Crispy flaky and aromatic went superbly with the house oil, I had to ask politely for the staff to stop bringing it because I couldn’t stop eating it. We ordered the Portuguese Calamari to start. To put it simply, it tasted like home for me, just like my grandmother used to make! The sauce, the chorizo chefs kiss. Highly recommended.
For entrees, I did the Bistro Filet cooked to a perfect medium rare which was excellent. Whatever they’re doing with the rendering of the bacon on top really just makes it something extra special. Not to forget the potato croquette, at least I think that’s what it was, I want two of those with every meal everyday. Just incredible honestly. My date ordered the chicken parm, all I’m saying is ask for the to-go box when you order this one and incredibly massive serving of perfectly fried breast over fresh home made pasta just like Nona used to make 🤌🏼.
It doesn’t happen often, but we stayed for dessert. Was hard to leave when they brought out the beautiful array of desserts live and toted the tray of beauty around the table… so we stayed for the fresh baked cookie/ice cream combo. I’m glad I did, I don’t do sweets often but talk about comfort food sheesh!
All in all the service, food, drink and overall comfort of the experience is something that will bring us back. If not next weekend definitely before month end. Put this one on your list if you haven’t dined here before, you won’t...
Read moreWe met my sister in law & husband at Andrew's for a anniversary dinner. We were not impressed with the cuisine & halfway thru our meal our waitress changed. My sister in law got sick the next day from the Caesar Salad,(that was all she had) Our 2nd occasion we were invited to Andrew's for dinner. We gave our name as there was a prior reservation. We were told that our table was not ready. We stood for 15 minutes while others were seated before us. All the while our one table was right there, set and ready! They just wouldn't seat us till the other couple arrived. I ordered sea scallops and was very disappointed when the plate came and they were bay scallops. I complained to the manager and he tried to make good with excuses, blaming it on a "new" waitress. He assured me he would bring me an order of sea scallops. 20 minutes later I received 1 sea scallop seared and decorated on a plate! Really... 1 sea scallop! I'm done with Andrews Bistro! 2 bad experiences makes my husband & I not look...
Read moreWe had a party of 11 go for a 50th birthdsy celebrstion. We were all seated at 7:55pm. We ordered drinks, two orders of calimsri and our meals. Our meals came out at 9:25. Two of the meals were cold. One was way under cooked and two meals didn't even come out. They 'ran out' of veal and didn't tell the customer until we all had our food. Then they 'forgot' the childs pene n grilled chicken. When the owner came over, he only cared about comping three meals, he didn't care about the customer. My meal was the one undercooked. I was told it was being recooked for me. At 10pm, I asked that it be packed Togo in a plastic container. When I got home, I took it out, it was my original meal, thrown into a contsiner. When I posted a review on his page, he argued with me, complained that we used gift certificates, stated that 'I was not his tyoe of customer' and then deleted the entire exchange. Keep in mind, FOUR other tables had issues with their meals. Instead of handling it professionally,...
