This is a review update. I first started going a few years ago and would take people there when they got under new management and that was an exciting change. The soup and salad bar is fantastic. But I went earlier this time and my friend had breakfast. I have been wanting a French Dip. I don’t expect them to cook a roast beef, but I would expect them to at least get a medium rare quality roast beef to heat up. To toast the bun and melt the cheese. It should be taken off the menu. Was cold no seasoning and very dry. I took half of it home thinking I would do it up, but I just threw it away. One time I ordered the chopped steak the same thing I just had to throw it away . Same with the stuffed shells. I figure if you’re going to pay for the salad bar then you should buy a dinner, but the dinner should at least be edible. The staff was very friendly and attentive. That has improved over the year. But the new owner does not put his foot down. It is inappropriate for employees to sit at the counter and talk badly about customers where other customers can hear. They were complaining about a person saying “may I please have another piece of wheat bread?” The waitress was complaining because probably they were busy. It was so busy time and the waitress said the person should’ve yelled “wheat bread,” as opposed to being polite. They were complaining about another customer. I don’t know what he did to offend them. Our waitress was very nice of course we didn’t require much. I know the new owner is young, but he really needs to get tough and they really need to slim down their menu. It’s better if you do half the menu correct then I have too many choices that nobody knows anything about. Also, even after they changed ownership, everything is extra. For example, if you want the feta cheese on your Gyro, you have to pay extra for it now put it on a Gyro is part of it. I know it’s annoying to make substitutions but if I specifically ask, may I have sautéed mushrooms instead of the sautéed peppers and they say yes that I get charged for those. With omelettes they’d be better off with just make your own omelette because otherwise people do start substituting and that can be very confusing. I do not have a problem with them charging small additional cost for credit cards because when you use your reward cards, it’s not the credit card company that’s giving you money. It’s coming right out of the personal business profits. I wish more people understood this. I suppose people will need to stick with breakfast because I could’ve gotten a lot better sandwich at Wawa or sheets or the cold section at the grocery store.

Deluxe Diner, owned by Zack, is a true gem and a beloved staple in the community—a cozy, welcoming spot where the food is always great and the atmosphere feels like home. Whether you're stopping in for a hearty breakfast or a comforting dinner, the menu never disappoints, and the ever-changing specials keep things fresh and exciting. The decor is warm and inviting, creating a family-like vibe that makes every visit feel special, and the cleanliness of the establishment shows just how much care and pride goes into running it. Zack and his team treat everyone like regulars, making this diner not just a place to eat, but a place to feel at home.

We tried this place since it was close to Reading Hospital. It was a bad choice. I went for the turkey diner, which was only two big slices of deli meat on top of the stuffing, which was just a mushy sweet roll. The mashed potatoes were bland. I am glad I had the salad bar. It was the best part of my meal. Just avoid the clam chowder soup. It was super thick and tasted like condensed soup. The other members of my party tried different things and said the same, their food was bland, no seasoning. My sister had the chicken parm, my mom the fish, and my dad had a burger. The place is an old diner and looks it. Our waitress was very nice.

Edit After Response From Owner:

For the record, the observations regarding vermin, the quality of the food, and the level of service are factual. I am neither an automated review system nor a former employee with an axe to grind. I am a patron sharing my experience, like many others and will not be engaging in any further debate.

My recent dining experience was nothing short of appalling. Witnessing a mouse scurrying around the dining area immediately sent alarm bells ringing regarding the establishment's hygiene standards. This alone was enough to guarantee a negative review.

Unfortunately, the culinary aspect offered no respite. The food we ordered was mediocre at best, a bland and uninspired offering that failed to satisfy in any way. Adding insult to injury, the service was equally lackluster, with our server being inattentive and seemingly uninterested.

However, the truly astonishing and frankly, off-putting aspect of this establishment extends beyond the in-house experience. Before even writing this review, I took the time to read what others had to say online, and the owner's responses to negative feedback are deeply concerning. Instead of viewing criticism as an opportunity for improvement, the owner consistently resorts to belittling customers, dismissing their valid concerns with rude and condescending remarks. It's clear that accountability and customer satisfaction are not priorities here.

Seeing this pattern of hostile and unprofessional online interactions only solidified our negative experience and added another significant reason to warn others. A business owner who actively insults and belittles their customers online demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect and a refusal to learn from feedback.

Between the unsanitary conditions, the subpar food and service, and the owner's shockingly rude and defensive responses to online reviews, Deluxe Diner is an establishment to be avoided at all costs. We will certainly not be returning and strongly urge anyone considering dining here to think twice. This was a truly dreadful experience compounded by the owner's appalling attitude towards...

This place was a complete rip-off food was not good the fruit and oatmeal we're straight out of packages from the store and over priced drinks. My son's ordered orange juice I didn't think anything of it I get the bill these were small little 6-ounce orange juices that were NOT fresh squeezed straight from the carton $3.50 per 6 oz orange juice my one son got two or three of them I couldn't believe it when I got our bill that the orange juice for 6 oz that came out of a carton was the same price as my breakfast for one glass. I probably paid about $12 for about 16 oz of orange juice. If you want to get ripped off go here. I asked the one waitress or owner I don't know who it was why the orange juice was so expensive and her reasoning was that they have to price gouge on the drinks because their meals are priced reasonably. And then the lady said the orange juice is not from concentrate we all go to the grocery store and buy orange juice or at least see how much it costs and we all know that it's about $2.50 for 1/2 gallon of non concentrated orange juice. To top it off after I said something about the orange juice being overpriced and got the smart remark from the waitress about how they got to price gouge to make up for low-cost meals I pulled out my debit card today I'll pay for my $30 little breakfast that we got a couple of eggs and some toast thinking I was eating breakfast on the cheap my bill is over $30 because of the overpriced orange juice with a smile on my face I pull out my debit card to pay for the overpriced meal and the lady says okay no problem you're going to be getting charged an extra 4% for using my debit card. Like I said if you like getting ripped off and eating the basics go hear you will have...
