I wanted this to be somewhere I could grab a quick cheap gyro and fries. Somewhere you can walk in, order at a counter and get your food.
This place is not quick. You do order at a counter, but service is a bit slow. That may be due to just opening, BUT, this is not their only or first location so lessons from other locations should have been learned.
This place is NOT cheap. In fact, they seem to go out of their way to gouge you. I just wanted water, but they have no way to get you a glass of water. So they make you buy bottled water. Fine. $2.50 for a small Ozarka? NOT fine! Prices for their food were not slightly cheaper than Yanni's Taverna 5 minutes away, but not that much better. There's a wider selection of food at Yanni's and it's an actual sit down, be served restaurant, not a lunch counter.
The gyro and fries. The whole reason I went. The meat was on the dry side because they cut it ahead of time and leave it in a warming drawer. The pita was so stuffed it started falling apart before I could finish it. The fries were not crispy, bordering on soggy. I should have gotten them "greek style" with Feta and parsley on them. My wife ordered a sampler plate and they didn't have any Dolmades! What kind of Greek restaurant doesn't have stuffed grape leaves? The items served on her plate were otherwise tasty. The pastry was very light and flaky. The spanakopita seemed to be made with cream cheese instead feta.
One last thing: dine in customers are supposed to get a sweet pita appetizer. This didn't come to our table until after we got our meals. it was OK, but nothing special.
I may go again, but it might be for burgers or hot dogs. Next time I want a good gyro, I'll go to Yanni's or drive even further to Halal Guys. At least I can count on them not making my fries until...
Read moreWas looking for a quick, healthy lunch spot and came across Simply Greek. Man what divine provenance. The restaurant is simple and unassuming but very clean and nicely decorated. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the owner, “Lefty”, handed a menu and then walked through the amazing looking plates behind the glass in the display case. My buddy and I selected the gyro plate to share with Tzatziki and pita as an appetizer. The appetizer was delicious, the pita was fresh and the service was excellent. Shortly after, the entree arrived. Lefty had taken care to split the entree for us to share. The temperature, taste and portions were all perfect. After lunch lefty gave us a complimentary dessert of pita with sugar and honey. It was the perfect ending to the meal. Lefty is absolutely the best and his food is better than almost any I’ve tried in all of Houston. So happy to have found this place and made a new friend. It will become a staple. Wishing Simply Greek...
Read moreWe only ended up at this one because the one we usually go to, on West road and highway 6, started closing earlier than they used to. This one on Telge is really no comparison. They have the same name and food, but it's not the same experience, and not the same bang for your buck. This one you get a lot less meat than you do at the one on highway 6 and west road. Less meat in the platter as well as less in the gyro sandwiches. The fries are limp, not seasoned, and moist. In the Greek salad they use black olives instead of green, which I found weird. They jipped us one of our kid's drinks. The kids mozzarella meal doesn't come with fries, just sticks, but it came with a drink 🤷🏾♀️. We won't be back. I know this restaurant replaced the Mexican one that was there before, but there's just no comparison to the one on highway 6 and west, even with the same name. The meat tasted good, but the fries were trash and the kids Burger...
