I visited this bakery right before leaving Dallas during the first week of August. I came to the U.S. from Korea for my studies, and while attending university in another city, I spent three months in Dallas for an internship. During that time, I discovered many great restaurants, and this bakery was one I had always wanted to visit. However, I never found the time until my internship ended—finally, I made it! Wanting to indulge, I ended up buying nearly $70 worth of bread just for myself.
Now, even weeks later, I keep thinking about this bakery’s bread, so I’m writing this review belatedly. I’ve visited many well-known bakeries in Korea and Japan, but I honestly think this place offers sourdough that comes close to perfection. How do they manage to make it so crispy on the outside, yet chewy and nutty on the inside? Sourdough often risks being heavy and crumbly, with the loaf breaking apart when sliced—but here, it cuts cleanly with any knife, the crumb is light, and the cross-section is simply flawless.

Everything is reasonably priced considering the high quality ingredients from small mills and attention to detail - especially notable with any pastry.
The Multigrain Sour has a nice crispy crust with perfect amount of air pockets....reminds me very much of the bread overseas. Also, tried the Strawberry Danish and I'd put these up there with Cedric Grolet/ Dominque Ansel level quality and flavor. To see the visual perfection of the dough lamination - follow them @oakcliffbread ....
Lastly, for anyone questioning why local small batch bread is important - its more nutritious than does not contain all the preservatives/ high amounts of sugar that are in most big box brands. It's pretty hard to find good bread like this and the only comparable place is about 35-40 minutes away in Southlake. I hope you'll give them a try and help make Oak Cliff Bread community staple :) - make sure to check the website for...
Read moreI had followed Oak Cliff bread on Instagram for about a year until I finally was able to try it. They have 2 bakes a week: Wednesday and Saturday. I pre-ordered on a Monday to pick up on a Wednesday from their home. If you can make it to their Saturday stand at the Dallas farmers market I have seen them sellout every time so you should get there early. I got the focaccia, 2 pain chocolat, and a morning bun. My favorite was the morning bun, the one I expected to like the least. It all was so fresh and tasted amazing but the morning bun was flaky while also being just the right amount of sweetness. The focaccia was what I was most curious about, and I was...
