We recently savored a selection of dishes at Cesar’s Tacos - Dallas, ordering the torta de jamón, quesadillas de barbacoa, and tacos al pastor. Each item was a testament to authentic Mexican cuisine, prepared with care and bursting with flavor.
The torta de jamón was a classic rendition, generously layered with creamy beans, crumbled queso fresco, ripe avocado, and all the vibrant fixings that define a torta. The bread was perfectly toasted, offering a satisfying balance of crusty exterior and pillowy interior.
The quesadilla de barbacoa was a highlight, with flawlessly melted cheese encasing tender barbacoa. Accompanied by rice and beans that evoked nostalgic, home-cooked flavors—distinctly far from Tex-Mex renditions—this dish was soul-warming. The sides of crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and two exceptional salsas (one green, one red) elevated the experience, rendering the sour cream unnecessary. Both salsas were standout, brimming with fresh, bold notes.
The tacos al pastor were equally impressive, served on doubled small corn tortillas—a traditional touch we appreciated. The pork was succulent, with a harmonious blend of spices, and the tortillas struck an ideal texture: neither too soft nor overly crisp, and not greasy at all. Garnished with cilantro, diced white onion, lettuce, tomato, and paired with rice, beans, two salsas, and a wedge of lime, these tacos were enhanced by the bright, zesty salsas that tied the dish together beautifully.
To complement our meal, we enjoyed two aguas frescas: one piña and one jamaica. Both were refreshingly sweet, striking a perfect balance without being cloying or overpowering. They were the ideal palate cleansers for the bold flavors of our entrees.
The service was exceptional. The staff member at the window greeted us with a warm smile and demonstrated remarkable patience and politeness while taking our order. This attentiveness set a welcoming tone for the entire visit.
Parking was convenient, with ample spaces available upon arrival. While securing a spot directly in front of the establishment may prove challenging, the side parking areas are easily accessible.

Read moreCesar’s Tacos in Dallas is a true hidden gem for Mexican food lovers. Having visited this place recently, I was genuinely impressed by the changes they’ve made over the years. The atmosphere retains its authentic, no-frills vibe, perfect for those who prioritize flavor over fancy décor.
The tacos are the standout here—freshly made, generously stuffed, and bursting with flavor. I tried their beef and al pastor tacos, and the balance of spices and tenderness of the meat were absolutely spot on. The fresh toppings like cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime added the perfect zing. Their salsa options were also excellent, with just the right kick of heat for spice enthusiasts.
Beyond the tacos, I was pleasantly surprised by their hearty sides, particularly the refried beans and rice, which were cooked to perfection. The staff is warm, welcoming, and quick to serve, ensuring a smooth dining experience even during busy hours.
What sets Cesar’s apart is their consistency and commitment to improving, as mentioned in many reviews. It’s clear that the management has put in effort to elevate the overall quality since its earlier days.

Read moreOkay this is by far hands down best Trompo tacos in the DFW. Was in the area for work and I’ve tried a few. Found 1 that was good. Many they were mediocre. Then I found Cesar’s Tacos. The area isn’t the best looking. But don’t let that distract you, from getting yourself some PHENOMENAL food. This is the CLOSEST I’ve ever had to the best in my life. Taco’s El Gordo in Tijuana/San Diego/Las Vegas only only a little bit ahead. The flavor is almost perfect. I think if they changed the cooking style to high temp stand up grill, with a pineapple on top it would set them ahead. $1.99 a taco, and many other options. Almost 10 choices of meat. Open 24/7. Don’t sleep on this while you’re in the DFW. Change the way you thought true Al Pastor or here Trompo meat is supposed to taste. Had my food in 5-10 minutes. Staff was friendly. And unlike a lot of places I’ve been to in the DFW, they don’t treat you different if you aren’t Hispanic or even speak Spanish. I will return here again before I leave, and each time I am in the DFW for work...
