Not quite 5 stars from me. I've ate here at 2 decades I suppose. Probably more. The food has always maintained the same taste since the first time I tried it. Flautas, enchiladas, tacos and the combo dinners are the same taste. The bean soup is good, my bean soup is BETTER. Then there's the employees. About three of those dudes have been there at least since high school and the waiter I know was babysat by one of my friends, lol. While I never been sick or nauseous from the slew of visits dining here. The 4 stars go to the attitude of the staff. They can be cool and somedays they act like they don't want to be there. They are bad at taking phone orders, cut the music down guys!!!! When they do answer phones on busy days, they act like your not on the phone when clearly they hear you and reply "huh". However, despite that one flaw I still like the food and enjoy the same Ole taste of their tex-mex dinners. Lemme tell you, from growing up here there's not many original restaurants left and it gives me pleasure this place is still around even with the attitude I get from them occasionally. Today I got tacos and it's darn good. I remember when some of those dinners used to $5-6 dollars, lol.

I have been going to Herrera's since I was a child (I'm now 33). My father ate here after Mass during the week days (he worked nearby). I learned to drive in the parking lot across the street. I now bring my daughter there (when I can) who is now 9 years old. When we walk in, they remember who we are. They remember our order. We live way, way north of 635 now, so we don't come in as often, but I would recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. The food is delicious. It tastes like Grandma Herrera is in the kitchen, making the salsa from scratch and preparing the dishes with love. I have sweet memories of this place I've visited for over 30 years, and the food and service never disappoint me to this day. Please visit this restaurant if you are in the DFW area.

Recently relocated in this area. This is my second attempt at finding good authentic Hispanic food. Tried this place out bc it had good reviews. Paid 17.59 for the Herrera appetizer for me and my teen to share and was horribly disappointed. The quesadilla only had cheese on the inside, no meat. The portion of nachos was bigger online but I didn’t need much anyway due to being mostly greasy soggy cheese, but I was warned from one reviewer and should’ve listened. And I got the free salsa but did not receive the beans as everyone else bragged about. Was kind of looking forward to those. Unfortunately, I am not returning to this place. (Is missing one quesadilla)

One star solely based on the service. Attitude from the guy at the register when we walked in the door and asked if we wait or seat ourselves (no signage was posted) we couldn't understand him and he got mad and pointed saying go pick a table. Menus were thrown on the table. Was rushed to order. They do not like having to answer questions at all. No one came around to refill drinks or ask how the food was or if we needed anything else. I had to flag someone down any time I needed something and then I got attitude from them for asking.

And the main reason for the one star is I noticed the service given to white customers was WAY better than the my table received. They only had two servers and they were both working all tables so It wasn't just the server I had. The servers sat the menus on the white customers tables nice and gently, they weren't rude, engaged in small talk, not rushy at all.

Good food...

the menu didn’t say boiled chicken on tacos, burritos, & flautas. i took 1 bite & expressed tht i thought it would be fajita chicken to the staff. they didn’t offer any alternative. i mean NOTHING!! not evn for me to keep the beans & rice so they could just chg the tacos & flautas to beef. so i paid nearly $20 for 1 bite of food & still left hungry.. the fact tht they dismissed my concern & still chrgd me solidified tht i would not be returning. the menu shouldv been clear n explaining they serve boiled chicken. i’m so very disappointed & upset abt losing my money. i literally left the whole plate wit all the food still on it & they didn’t evn have the courtesy & decency to offer a discount - prob because im black & not hispanic/latino.. the experience was an EPIC FAIL!! if i couldv given 0 stars,...
