You get what you should be looking for when coming to a small, quick fried food place in the hood. There are not many parking spaces and if you're traveling north on Lancaster getting to it can be tricky because you have to u-turn at a fairly busy stop - the red light at 52nd Street. It's not hard to get to, you just have to know that it's there and be prepared for the u-turn otherwise you'll pass it before you realize that you have. I have been trying catfish joints in Oakcliff. I Google the best catfish around the area. So far the places I've been to do have hot and fresh fried catfish. J&S catfish is really good. Only item that most places lack and I haven't found it yet. Is their fries. And I see why that happens. Most joints have the fish on top of the fries and and all that flavor soaks up on to the fries which makes them soggy. I understand the flavor point of view of why it's done that way. But soggy fries isn't for everyone. I have not found a restaurant who's fries are crispy. When I take out and drive back home. Within 5 mins the fries are soggy. The fish had more flavor when the prices were lower. I do understand COVID Seriously affected Everyone and Every family own business, BUT please season the fish if I'm paying $$ for a few pieces of catfish steaks.
