Arrived at 10:00 A.M. understanding that I was early and ready to wait 30 minutes to put in my order and enjoy my all so craved kellers burger. I've been coming here for over 4 years. As soon as we pulled up into the second slot so that my wife could look at the menu the manager immediatly came out rudely yelling (yes that says Yelling as in the tone you would use to scold your child for doing something you just told them not to) that they weren't open yet as if we had pulled in extremely early. Little did this lady know that i was carrying her cook for the morning to whom she also starting yelling at that he isnt working today nor does he have a job with them. Now i understand this is a friend of mine which would put me on his side but the situation is this and im going to exclude the details of internal affaires. Not only is the manager (whose name is Cynthia) YELLING at employees but also at CUSTOMERS. Through it i have patience and wait for somone to come take my order. Seeing as how she treated the cook for the morning he is still in my vehicle while they continue the shift meaning she has to pick up the slack and make my order. I order two burgers, onion rings and chicken strips. They come out to tell me they cant make my strips or onion rings because of the mornimgs events and internal "fights" they havent prepared the fryer. I tell them i have all the time in the world to just bing my burgers first and ill share with my daughter and wait. I get my food and low and behold it has my onion rings and chicken strips..... (Too fast and they are burnt...). No problem im not gonna make a big deal about it. I open my burger which is supposed to have onions lettuce and added bacon with NO tomatoe to which i find only had meat and cheese with their sauce and TOMATOE ON IT. I send it back. The lady brings me back the burger. What changed? She put onions on it. Didnt remove the tomoatoe and litteraly slapped some onions on it. (Glad i dont have a food allergy or miss keller would have had a big situation on her hands). Through this time im eating and enjoying my day and there have been about 5 other customers and its 11 AM ive seen 3 bags returned to the kitchen and even the multiple employees are coming out with attitudes because Cynthia is causing a problem slowimg down production of business. WORDS OF ADVICE: I've held managment positions for high revenue restaurants and even sales floors for large corporations. To employ someone who mistreats employees and customers in such way can only result in business diminishing. Regardless of how long someone has been employed doesnt mean they are a good employee and if this is the way she believes service should be held to run a good business then i feel sorry for their employees and clientel. Ignorant managment can only result in negative...
Read moreKeller’s has been a staple of Dallas for decades before my dad took me here as a kid when KZEW rocked the airwaves, and there’s no place like it in North Texas. You know it’s something special when you see a six figure Benz, a GMC Jimmy, an Escalade and a well loved blue-collar work truck parked in the row in front of you.
If your primary factor in a dining experience is the west Plano/Allen/Frisco suburban newness and your must-have’s include the newest & finest kitchen equipment, polished this & that, go somewhere else. This isn’t for you and I hope my review is helpful in that regard. Keller’s been here since Celina residents had Farm Truck license plates and 121 & Hwy 5 were 2-lane blacktops.
What’s most important to a meal is the actual food, and boy do you get that here! You won’t find gluten free, dolphin-safe, vegan, fair trade or even organic seals on the brown paper bags your food comes in, and that’s ok. After you try an out of this world onion ring, you’ll forget about all that anyway. Grab a cold beer to go along with your milkshake. The carhops will call you hun or sweetie, and they ain’t afraid to double check the details so your burger comes to your window just right. To set the right expectation, your burger isn’t going to get to you at drive-thru speed because it’s all made to order. Knowing that, your mouth will build anticipatory saliva by the time them fries reach your window. It has always felt like this was made for just me because it is. The few minutes wait can be spent talking with your buds, date or family in the car with you enjoying the diversity and variety of scenery that surrounds you. I work on Las Colinas and it’s roughly 12-15 minutes away for me and a well enjoyed hour away from the stresses...
Read moreFor years I heard myths and legends about a drive in that made fantastic burgers and only charged three dollars per sandwich.
I pulled up. I got out of my car only to find a sign "Must Remain in Vehicle at All Times". I got back into my car. A carhop came to greet me a few minutes later. She's absolutely one of the kindest most honest servers I've met. I ordered the #5, add grilled onions (They're free, must be for a reason). When she brought out my drink, we settled my ticket and soon after I was feasting on a burger over the serving tray provided.
The patties are made from real meat, smashed against the grill. The toppings are fresh and delicious. The poppyseed bun stands against the tide of burger juices well. I'm initially not impressed. Many restaurants offer real meat patties and sturdy buns. This didn't deter me from reflecting on it though. How many restaurants offer this quality at this price? Three dollars? For this? The genius of this sandwich is that it's this good for this price and they've been doing it fir decades. I can go to a certain royally named establishment and pay twice as much for a burger a quarter this good. This meal is not just good, this burger is a work of art, a concoction of genius. You have to try this sandwich not because it will amaze you with flavor. You will try it because they will shock you with value. I would have easily paid three times as much for that burger. I could have paid more for way worse service. But I didn't. That's what makes Keller's Drive in relevant. That's what makes them one of the best.
