The La Madeleine on Northwest Hwy & Midway Rd in Dallas is under siege by a manager who is so unkind to the employees that they are bailing out at an alarming rate.
There were three employees who were the reason that this restaurant ran efficiently and happily: the baker and two older women servers. First to go was the baker who had worked there for 30 years! While he was there, nothing ever got burned and they were always well-stocked in baked goods – but now the Potato Galettes are always burnt and they run out of basic things.
Next to flee the manager’s heavy hand was an older female server who had been there for 15 years, who was so beloved of the customers that hugs were often exchanged at the cashier station with her, while people paid their bill. The third employee of great importance to the success of this restaurant is another older female server who has been there for more than 10 years – and she says the manager is cutting back her hours so steeply that it is putting her job in a precarious position. She too radiates so much appreciation to customers that she is extremely popular – and it's largely because of her, now that the other two long-term employees have left, that anything is running smoothly at this restaurant.
Meanwhile, other workers keep getting hired, then leave before one month is up because the manager is so mean to them – even people who are doing a great job. It’s a revolving door at this place now, which is making the service and the food unpredictable. ALL BECAUSE OF THIS MANAGER. Before he was there, this was the best La Madeline’s in Dallas.
To corporate leaders of this restaurant chain: PLEASE show some respect to your long-term employees! They are the ONLY reason your restaurant is operating successfully! Support them or don’t be surprised when your solid base of longtime customers leave and this...
Read moreThis last time might be my last attempt at trying to show them business.
I ordered breakfast. Or really I tried to order. First attempt the woman at the counter was unable to process order, then no registers were open for the person to check me out. All were locked? Then when she did she charged me twice. Then the manager finally addressed her concerns about not being signed in and he then rang me up again. I swiped my card and it went thru and then he said no it didn't. And I said it did it confirmed and told me to remove card. And he said it looks that way but it didn't. In the end, 7 days later: I have been charged 3 times for one breakfast. He said to call back if it were wrong. I did call back. Bank of America shows these 2 charges and the women I spoke to said she would call back to resolve it and took down me info. She did not. Its just a $13 dollar breakfast but it turned out to be a $39 dollar breakfast!
This place has gone down hill so fast since covid. I can appreciate that they might be understaffed and that can cause problems. But another issue is that only after I was charged for my breakfast and coffee did they tell me ALL OF THE COFFEE MACHINES WERE DOWN? Why? Why not mention that when Ive tried 3 times to pay the bill in line? La Madeline has the potential to be really great and maybe even be like it used to, but this is not the first time Ive encountered people that don't care, don't listen, and are TOTALLY unhelpful. I will not be back, which saddens me bc I want to...
