Went for brunch today and there was a line as to be expected. What I did not expect was to be passed over in line and then offered to sit outside, in the cold, with my infant son in tow when I brought this to the manager's attention. My friend and I decided to leave and as we were almost to my car which was parked pretty far down the street the manager comes running towards us in the middle of the street to let us know that a table had opened up. We felt like he was trying to make up for the earlier mishap so we decided to try again and went back. This was a mistake. As we're sitting down, our server comes and asked us if someone (I don't remember the name) had seated us, the implied question being whether we had seated ourselves. I don't work there so I'm not the appropriate person to ask those kinds of questions. How about starting with telling me your name and asking what I'll be drinking instead of starting with unnessecary rudeness? The next hour involved her putting her fingers on the rim of our glasses and tops of our straws when placing them on the table, a dirty coffee cup, which I was informed had to be hand washed since they were running low on coffee cups, straight up ignoring us, food taking more than 20 minutes to arrive, and just a general sense that she would rather not serve us. I get it, brunch is a hard shift and if my friend and I had sat there for hours doing nothing but drinking mimosas, holding up the table and being demanding, the way we were treated might have been justified but before we even got the chance to sit down, we're getting passive hostility from the server. The food was actually good but I don't spend my money dining out to be made to feel bad....

The person who seated us put us right by area where there was live music. We clearly had two kids with us and she didn't mention the music, which was doing sound check through most of our meal. When they started playing, they were good, but I was yelling across the table. Live brunch music was not advertised on the website or at the location.
When I asked for a carrier sling, she was clueless. She told me she was "new to Nova" and would find out. Another server saw me standing by the table and brought us an upside down highchair, which is pretty unsafe, so I spent all of breakfast holding our baby or with one hand on the carrier.
Hostess turned out to be our server, but only after someone else came to take our drink order. Actual server apologized for the confusion, but mentioned that we were, in fact, her table.
A different server spend half our meal leaning on the half wall behind my husband until he asked him to stop. His midsection was practically in my husband's face. It was very strange.
My mimosa glass came out with a lipstick mark on it and my order came out wrong. The manager apologized for how long my order was taking after work sent it back, and said his kitchen was behind and he didn't really know why.
When my order finally came out, it was inexplicably cold.
While the manager comp'd my meal and drink, I doubt I'll be back. There are too many good brunch spots in Dallas to waste time on this one.
My son's pizza and my husband's meal was good, our appetizer was good. Only things keeping me from giving this...
Read moreI've lived in the DFW area for 15 years and never knew about this awesome little gem in the Bishop Arts district 🤩 I was feeling pretty bummed about the pain from my dental surgery I had last week still proceeding into this week and needed to get out of the house. I told hubby "let's just drive somewhere and get lost". He's a part time Uber driver and knows his way around DFW very well, so, getting lost wasn't going to be an option 😆 Anyway, we ended up in the Bishop Arts area and it was lined with cute little shops & restaurants. My spirits lifted immediately 😃 I can't believe I had never been to this area before! How fun! 🤩 Eventually we got hungry and stopped here at Nova 💫 This place is awesome!!! From the food, to the service, to that amazing looking chandelier located in the pictures. It's the little things that make me excited ☺ The atmosphere was really chill. Lots to choose from whether you only want a little bit to eat or a lot 😋 Nova also serves dessert, but you have to ask your server what they have as it's not on the menu. You are served a refreshing glass of water w/ a cucumber slice, but there are other options to choose from in the drink category 😉 Some of the pictures may have come out a little dark and I apologize for that 🙏🏻 Please do yourselves a favor and be sure to drop in here. You will not be...
