This was my first time at this spot, so I will leave an honest review about my experience (food + customer service + atmosphere). I hope this review is taken into consideration for the establishments' growth.
● Food: The food tasted great when I warmed it up later, but it was not fresh when I initially received my order, which was disappointing. The food was not my biggest concern, which will be listed below.
● Customer service: The customer service from the young female cashier was terrible. I have love for my people, but the attitude I received was the epitome of rude for no reason. I'm a friendly person, and I have too worked customer service related jobs (including being a cashier), so how I treat people + leaving people with a great experience matters to me. I'm not the tallest person, so I tried my best to make sure I communicated my order. The young female cashier in short assumed that I wanted two orders, which was not the case so there was confusion with the price which was a mistake on her part (mistakes occur, so I get it - however she could have gone about it in a professional way). I also wanted to purchase 2 orders of fries and was told the order comes with fries. I would have liked to add another fry but it seemed like the cashier wanted to call the shots on my order. I still wanted another fry but to prevent any drama, I left it alone. In short, Rudy's lost a few extra dollars from me, which I was willing to pay for what I wanted. I was order fries for someone else to have. Since the cashier assumed I wanted two orders of chicken, the price was higher than I expected it to be (I totaled the price of my order), so correcting her when i was trying to figure out the price irritated her when she was the one who misunderstood. In fact, another person in line had price trouble. We all make mistakes, but the attitude she gave was uncalled for and is the main reason why I will not give my dollars to the restaurant in the future.
● Atmosphere: While in line there were individuals smoking which was discourteous and not considerate of others and their health. Everybody does not want to breathe that in. Protect your temple/lungs people.
In all, my experience was disappointing and it's grievous to see the state and decline of how my own people treat their own. I highly encourage this establishment to work on their customer service skills. You never know who you're serving and who could invest in your business for it's growth.
As a people, we have to do better with how we treat one another and not be respectors of persons or rudely defensive when we are in the wrong or corrected. I know for a fact that if Beyonce or Channing Tatum showed up, they'd be treated better ... let that sink in.
To the female cashier who took my order,
If you see this, I encourage you to repent and turn to the Way, Truth, and Life - Yahusha. I hope the best for you + that change, grow, and experience His love and healing. I am currently, and He truly is patient, kind, has changed me, and is changing me.
I won't support this establishment moving...
Read moreOur family loves Rudy's Chicken. Since the new building the wait isn't as long but they keep a full drive thru. Ordering at the window is usually faster and easier. Love it!!! Update: What happened to the food? This last time Rudy's is missing it. I wondered why they got so many bad reviews but this last time I went I can see why. The fries were stale and my kids said it tasted like it was fried in old oil. The best review describing the fries was, "fried the night before or earlier that day". Yes they definitely tasted horrible. The service, it is what it is. These people are working serving food, which is what they're either doing out of family or necessity. They may hate the fact that they have to come to work which means they probably don't have too much other enjoyment in their lives outside of a miserable career choice. So I don't take it personal. I smile and keep myself despite what attitudes I might encounter. Which is why I rarely comment on service unless it's exceptionally horrible. So yeah they're rude and crass but hey I don't know what they're dealing with. The food on the other hand has nothing to do with personal choice. The food is a matter of customer satisfaction. As a nurse, I know that patients make it possible for us to have a job. We're only needed when we're needed. When we aren't needed we're worthless. Patient satisfaction works the same way. Their customer service and a low standard of quality equals a business that won't last long. They'll have the loyalty of the people that have frequented for years but the fester will grow unless they take care of it. This was one of our favorite places but I'm starting to lean towards Henderson's on Midway and George Bush. Their food tastes better, is fresher, cheaper prices, and the people are both courteous and polite. My kids don't want it anymore and I can't afford to. Bye...
Read moreSeriously. How dare D Magazine call this place "the winner winner of chicken dinners in southern Big D"? 🤦🏽♂️ they must have been drunk speeding through Loop 12 in the middle of the night. The guy that took our order and handed our food was super nice, charming, and funny - maybe he's the owner. Here we go. We went on Valentine's Day. Cause fried chicken is everything (elsewhere). We ordered 5 chicken thighs - you get rump and half a thigh (see forensics picture), the pickles and jalapeños were place on top of the fries (which made them soggy), then the chicken tenders were under the fries which made them soggy. The batter used for the tenders (flaky) is different from the one used for the "thighs" (flat). The batter of the thighs was SALTY. We had to reheat the fries in an air fryer to dry them out. They were well seasoned but too SALTY. We had to reheat the thighs and tenders to dry them out.
All in all, Bojangles still offers the best fried crispy and flavorful tenders in this area and maybe through DFW.
Hattie B's Hot Chicken is pretty good, and if your mouth is burning, they give you free vanilla ice cream 🥰 not even Ida Claire is that good.
Forget about Caine's 🙄 which only relies on their sauce and nothing else. The chicken is crispy, though.
Our criteria to judge fried chicken (based on common sense not rocket science): crispyness (instead of soggy and moist meat); flavor (well balanced seasoning that doesn't require ketchup or any sauce to add flavor); meat to bone ratio (more meat than bone); tasty sides (not overcooked, not super SALTY, or vinegary that makes your lips pucker)
Simple stuff.
Don't just settle for mediocre fried chicken tasted by uneducated palates and published in random mainstream magazines or blogs. Rudy's...
