I visited Cold Creek for the first time today, and I called in an order for pickup.
-The Facts!
We ordered a 3 meals. All of them were chicken tenders, tossed in hot sauce. Two had french fries, one had onion rings as the side. We also got an appetizer of Wisconsin Cheese Curds.
We were originally ordering wings, but I was informed that they were temporarily out of them for the day, so, I placed the order at 1:08, changing the wings to tenders. I was told the order would be ready in 10-15 minutes.
I arrived at the restaurant at 1:21. There were roughly 15 patrons. The waitress let me know that they were working in my order, and offered me a soft drink while I waited.
I got my order at 1:40, 32 minuted after I placed my order.
-The Good!
Great staff! Both of the ladies working up front were very nice. I really appreciated the waitress offering me a drink, and they both kept me updated on my order status.
The lady on the phone was fast and friendly, and obviously accurate. The order on my receipt was perfect.
The restaurant is really nice. It's small, but it has a great ambience, and I think it would be a great place to sit down and have a meal and a drink. They have lots of TVs around with sports games playing. I watched Auburn spank Tennessee while I was there. There are musical instruments on one side of the room. It looks like they have live entertainment from time to time, and as a musician, that's a strong selling point for me.
The chicken tenders were awesome as well. Hand-breaded with some of the best tasting breading I've had the pleasure of eating. Very fresh, hot and juicy.
The cheese curds were GREAT. They seemed to also be breaded in-house, and the flavor was perfect.
-The Meh.
The wait was a little long. I'd have preferred being told a closer approximation of the time it was going to take to complete my order, so that I didn't have to hang out as long as I did. The staff was very accommodating, so I'm not too concerned about it.
I wish they'd have had the wings available. I've heard good things about them, and we were very excited to try them out. We LOVE wings, so we settled for the tenders tossed in hot sauce to get an idea of the sauce flavor, but......
None of our tenders were tossed in the hot sauce, even though it was a $1 up-charge per meal. 14 tenders total, and not one had a stitch of hot sauce. My receipt reflected the request for the tossing, and I feel like that was a wasted $3. I'm disappointed that I didn't get what I wanted, twice. No wings, then no hot sauce.
The fries were not very fresh. The were hard and a little cold. The onion rings were very done. Almost burnt. Close to being inedible, unfortunately.
Overall, I like the place. It seems like a nice joint, with a few new business issues. I will return, but I'll have to check my order...
Read moreGoogled places to eat in Dalton (live in Calhoun) for my birthday dinner with the siblings and kids. This place popped up and I had never been. Always open to new places so this was it. Studied the menu ahead of time, just so I wouldn't be glued to it while everyone else was yucking it up having a good time. Circled a few things I leaned toward and crossed out what I probably wouldn't care for. The online menu isn't the same as the one given to you there btw. More items listed on the physical menu. Didn't make a difference in what I ordered, but it would be nice if they updated their online version. Cold Creek is sold as a brew pub type place, sorta "bougie". At least from what I could tell online. Think City Cellar in Cartersville. Got there and was immediately taken aback by the nondescriptiveness of the exterior. Almost made me second guess my decision. Looked way more biker bar than bougie. Went inside and was greeted by what appeared to be either the owners or frequent patrons at a table who directed us to wherever we could fit our party of 7. Wednesdays are live music nights which was a bonus. The dude was setting up as we sat down. Our server was Kristy and she was outstanding. She may have been the only server on duty. Kristy was attentive without being overbearing. Drink orders taken in a timely manner, then appetizers, and finally entrées. No complaints at all concerning service. Granted, the place wasn't packed. But it was a Wednesday night. I hope they are slammed on weekends. Mainly because the food was awesome, even for what is basically bar food. My son and I ordered loaded fries and fried mushrooms first. Thoroughly enjoyed both. A few others ordered different things, and from what I was able to try, it was all really good. They have craft beers which I understand, is how the place got its start. What I ordered was fine for what I thought I'd get. Entrées soon came. Son ordered the Smoked Brisket & Bourbon Sandwich and I the B.E.L.T. Burger (think fried egg on top). Fries and onion rings for the sides. It was all excellent. Zero complaints about the food at all. Nada. Prices are reasonable for what you get service was outstanding. Atmosphere is laid back and I was comfy in jeans, untucked button down, and ball cap. Not sure how often, but I will defintely be back. Wish I had taken a pic of my burger. It was fairly epic. Recommend all...
Read moreOK.... I have read the reviews and I have to disagree with a couple of them. To start off I have just consumed the best BLT that I have ever eaten. I would give a description of the sandwich but to be honest it didn't hang around that long. I do remeber that the bread was toasted perfectly. The lettuce and pickle were crisp and fresh. The tomatoe was cut just right and juicy with a ton of flavor. Bacon! Oh my.... bacon. The sandwich was loaded with perfectly cooked bacon. And a lot of it. In fact I thought they had confused my order with someone elses because of the amount of bacon on the sandwich. To drink I had a spicey bloody mary. The beaverage came garnished with celery, olive, grape tomatoe, pickle and BACON! Yes I said Bacon!! They have a fully stocked bar and an excellent selection of craft beer that they serve with a 16 tap selection. One of those being nitro. But for those of you who haven't swapped over to the crafty side of beer they offer all of American and Latino favorites in bottle or can. The bar has 8 seats and the restaurant has 8 tables and 3 boothes along the north wall. If the weather is kind there is a huge deck built on to the restaraunt with maybe 6 picnic style tables all having brand new umbrellas and 3 huge heaters to keep you warm. There is a staging area for a band and a awesome arcade type golf game. The restaurant is clean and from what I could tell the kitchen is loaded with brand new state of the art equipment. I first ate and vistited Cold Creek in Eton Georgia about 2 years ago. Then it was mainly a craft beer establishment. I loved it because it was 6 miles from the house and I live in the sticks. The business was bought by a new owner not to long after I started going there and he decided to move Cold Creek to Dalton. The idea made me sick.....I mean I looked at Cold Creek as my own little watering hole near the house. I understood why the move was necessary. The vision that the new ownership had could not be done in Eton Since the move Cold Creek has made huge leaps and bounds. The menu is amazing with quality food that can be matched with anyone in Dalton. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Young to old, drinker to non-drinker, Catholic to Baptist. Proud Patron of Cold...
