This is an email I sent to the email linked on the website. Which I never received a response to.
“I want to start by saying my wife and I LOVE coming down to Danvers Pizza. We live up in northern NH and drive the 2 and a half hours because we enjoy it so much. My wife is celiac and it is a struggle to find safe options to eat out, especially up in rural NH. I was in yesterday 4/18 to get a couple of pizzas. I wanted to reach out via email, because I feel it is unfair to post something publicly as I have previously loved the food you make; I just wanted to make you aware of the encounter I had. There was a gentlemen working at the register, shorter, in a polo. He was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I ordered two pizzas online both with modifiers. One with “xtra garlic” one with “sub crispy chicken”. When I picked up my pizza it had grilled chicken so I came back inside to see if I could get a new one. He said he would do so, so I went to go wait for a few minutes in my car. When I returned, he told me that he could accommodate me this time, but “I cost him three pizzas, the one that needed to be remade and 2 cheeses (not sure how that makes any sense)” He told me that I needed to have written “fried” chicken. I expressed that the menu had stated both “crispy chicken” , “fried chicken” and “crispy fried chicken” to which I was blown off. I continued to wait, able to hear him speaking about me with another employee out back. A different employee brought out the remade pizza for me. I let him know that the menu does say “add grilled chicken, crispy chicken, or shaved steak” that I drove almost 3 hours to come down. Nothing was said, the box was handed over, I asked for salt, was given pepper, and I left. I have worked over a decade in the food service business. I understand modifiers can be a pain, I understand that customers in general can be. However this left such a sour taste my wife feared eating the remake, in fear of cross contamination. I am not sure how we feel about returning in the future. Again we really love the pizza and have had great experiences previously, but that was such a bad experience we are not sure if we care to return. I am truly not one to reach out and complain, but I just feel the way I was treated is unacceptable, and if I owned an establishment I would want to know if my customers we’re being mistreated
Thank you for taking the time to read this, if there are any questions please let me know. I have attached to original order to display how I entered modifiers. “
This was written the day after my visit to the restaurant. It only just came up in conversation prompting me to write this review. I’d like to amend, I will not return, and after reading other reviews I will not be surprised if this business fails in short order. A shame after the previous owner did such a...
Read moreWe order from here a lot because of some gluten allergies in our family. Since it opened to about a year ago, this was our favorite takeout restaurant - tasty, good service, accurate, fast. Over the last year, it has become increasingly harder and harder to place orders at this place. If I call to place a take out and I get the manager, it's seamless and easy. It might take all over 10 seconds to order. However, if I call and don't get the manager, it's incredibly difficult to place any basic order. I either get someone who calls me "chief" and "boss" every other word and placing the basic order becomes a 5-minute ordeal. Even my 7 year old daughter asked me in the restaurant why he keeps calling me "boss" and "chief". It's how someone speaks to a child, not another adult. Basic social awareness. The last two times I've called to order, I've got someone with no personality and extremely difficult to order from. It's like they're using their internal POS system for the first time.
Keep in mind we've had the same order for the last 3 years... We always order 2 gluten free pizzas and a large boneless buffalo finger. It's a basic order. When I order with the manager, it's what I get. When I get these other two guys, they repeat it back like I'm saying it wrong, "sooooooo you want a large tender, buffalo style". I've started to order it like that to make it easy for them to comprehend as possible. I then have them read the order back to me to confirm accuracy. This latest order, my wife went in to pickup the order and they were bone-in wings. When she told them it was supposed to be boneless, the guy just said "No....". In 3 years we have never ordered bone-in wings. He literally repeated the order back to me on the phone and said boneless. How do you just say "No...."?
I understand that finding good help is hard these days. There has been a "now hiring" sign out front for a while. However, this is an extremely basic job.
We simply cannot keep spending $100 here every week because the service has become terrible and the process has become just one big headache.
Thankfully, there are some new gluten free...
Read moreupdate: i was there yesterday, and found out John and Chanda sold the place, so it's new owners now. kind've weird, as they were the heart and soul of the place, really friendly people, so i wish them the best, and hope the new owners can maintain that customer service. one good move they've made already is they've finally put in a counter and a few chairs so people can sit. please don't change the recipe to the chicken parm pizza. i love being able to get a pizza that only has fresh mozzarella, and not standard pizza cheese. the one i got yesterday tasted the same as usual, but maybe not as much chicken. original: i finally got around to trying this place, it was a good decision. chicken parm pizza was great. fair price for a small at 12.95, plenty to fill me up. the chicken was incredible. you will not find a better chicken topping on a pizza than here. generous amount of TENDER chicken(chicken on most pizza is dried out), great crisp and flavor on the outside, you can tell they are frying with a clean oil. no tendons to spit out… i can see why the tenders are a hit. the pizza itself was really good. the crust has a nice crisp to it… wouldn’t say “thin” but it’s definitely not bready. fresh mozz always hits the spot, and the sauce was nice. i liked that it wasn’t sweet, so many places use sweet sauce now, but i feel like if i want something sweet i’ll have dessert. aside from the food, it’s clean inside, and the staff is super friendly… way above what you’d encounter at the typical shop. overall, this is definitely a spot to check out if you...
