This is by far the worst experience I have had in my life. I preface this review with the fact that I never write reviews for anything. Short story...calzone was not cooked, do not order. For those interested in the whole story, here you go... I was first presented with a very limited menu, about 6 options each for pizza and pasta. OK, great, they must be great at the dishes they serve, no problem. I order the calzone, as I have eaten many enjoyable calzones in the past, this should be great. When I receive the dish, it appears as a half of pizza. No problem, there are ingredients inside, it should be fine. I tear into the corner and I notice immediately, that the inside is mostly under-cooked dough. I am concerned at this point, but not upset, this is a mistake so I bring it to the waitress station as no one was around. When someone does pass by, I ask for the individual responsible for this area I was seated. A gentlemen stepped over to ask what the issue was, and I responded that the calzone was undercooked and it would be appreciated if it was replaced. Without hesitation, he responded, "I would eat it." Immediately, I felt a visceral rage that told me to throw the plate at this individual, but I quelled that urge and swallowed hard as another person, likely very aware of my emotional state stepped in to save the day. I calmly explained what was wrong and he agreed to fix it and that he was sorry. The owner also stopped by to apologize and I accepted and told him that I don't need it well done, just cooked. I received the dish back from the owner soon after. The corner was cooked and the bottom was black. Not appealing, but must be cooked, right? Not a chance. I dig in further to fine the inside just as under-cooked as previously found. The waitress, a sweetheart I must add, asked how it was and I showed her the inside and it was still terribly under-cooked. She agreed as she teared a piece off herself. She took the dish back as I told her I was done. My wife stayed to pay for the edible portions of her meal and I took the kids that were done with their meals back to the car. I will never return here. They said all the right things, but the meal was not one I would feel comfortable serving to my guests at home. I have no idea how they can believe it is ok to sell to patrons. Maybe they are better at other food, but my family barely ate the food they received. Travel here at your own risk. A restaurant unable to cook a folded pizza should not be in this business. This ruined my night. I never react this way. I've suffered through many sub par meals at other eateries, and haven't complained. This effected me...
Read moreThis restaurant is adorable! With my family, I helped celebrate my middle brother's birthday here. There were 9 of us present and we were given the option to sit inside with air conditioning or outside on the patio at tables with yellow patio umbrellas. The patio was busy, hustling and bustling, it definitely had a European feel to it.
The entrance to the restaurant is cute, there is a topiary-like archway which leads to both the entrance of the restaurant as well as the patio. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by a tall and pretty hostess (I don't recall her name). She was friendly, amiable and definitely helpful, who led us to our seating options.
We wound up sitting inside. We were led into the restaurant where we walked through a small bar area to another separate back room, that had 3 smaller 4 person tables, along the perimeter of the room and another set of tables that appeared to already be set up for us along another wall.
The waiter, Mateo (sp?) who helped us was really sweet, nice and cute. He had a pretty thick accent but understanding him was not difficult. It added a little extra flavor and flair to our evening. The owner was really nice too, so friendly and amiable, and definitely service oriented, in fact, everyone we interacted with, was extremely helpful and nice!
On the suggestion from the waiter and owner of the restaurant, two antipasti platters were ordered for us, both were delicious. I ordered the Quattro Stagioni pizza, I wasn't thrilled with it. It sounded great, but the toppings were all separated, instead of being mixed together, so there was a small cluster of each one of the toppings on each slice.
I don't have any advice on the wine or dessert, as we brought our own and the restaurant didn't have an issue with it.
As I stated from the beginning, this restaurant is adorable, cute, and quaint and I would definitely return to sit on the patio on another warm balmy summers' evening, enjoying dessert. It's not a dressy affair, a simple summers' dress or skirt will do. This restaurant really does have a warm, pleasant, and friendly atmosphere to it. Parking could be a bit tedious, there is not a lot of street parking and it's a bit tight, but it wasn't too difficult for the time of...
Read moreI attended a bridal shower today in a spacious private room that featured a bar with a bartender. They offered about five specialty drinks, including one non-alcoholic option, which I tried and found very enjoyable.
The wait staff was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout the event.
Having previously dined at the Brentwood location, I had high expectations for the food here, especially since the dishes at Locanda Capri in Brentwood are outstanding.
Because this was a large gathering, we had a set menu. Unfortunately, the Vesuvio Salad lacked flavor despite adding salt and pepper, although it was visually appealing.
I ordered the Pollo Parmigiana, which consisted of two thin, breaded cutlets that were overcooked, dry, and difficult to cut with the provided butter knife. It was accompanied by two wedge slices of potatoes, totaling about a quarter of a potato, and some very mushy eggplant. I was not pleased with this dish.
For dessert, I had the Italian donuts with hazelnut chocolate, which seemed to have been microwaved, making them rubbery and tough to chew. I could only manage a small bite, as the flavor didn’t make up for the unpleasant texture.
Perhaps the food quality was affected by the large party; I’m unsure about the rest of their menu. At the Brentwood location, I’ve had five-star dishes like gnocchi, ribeye steak, and rice balls. Maybe those options would be similarly excellent here, and if I return, I’ll be sure to try them.
I give five stars each for the great service and nice ambiance. Sadly, I give two stars fully the food...
