This library is geared for kids (babies to middle school age in particular) to get them excited about reading and wanting to learn with extensive reading programs and special programs and events. They offer different age group Storytimes during the week for babies /toddlers and up, with some weekend Storytimes for families. The library is split in half with the adult section on the left side of the building, with a large picture-window reading room full of magazines and newspapers and a huge fireplace and on the right side is the children's side with the Welcome Desk/ Checkout area in the middle as you walk into the library. As for the Library's Special Progams/Events, they are sponsored by the Friends of the Danville Library, a dedicated all-volunteer non-profit organization. What the Friends of the Library is able to sell at the 6-day-a-week Friends Bookstore or the quarterly Big Used Books and Media Sales in the Library's Mt Diablo Room, the money raised goes to pay for new Library materials and the special programs/events for the community. Throughout the year, special library events can be cultural, such as Chinese New Year including a Lion Dance, educational, such as Dr Suess's Birthday Celebration, or having Symphonics Storytime, a local youth symphony plays live music and reads a story to babies through early elementary aged school children and have a craft-making activity afterwards. Yesterday, Symphonic Storytime was reading "Beauty and the Beast" set to the Disney animated musical. Afterwards, the Library provided silver handmade paper mirrors for the kids and their parents/grandparents to decorate and take home. It can get noisy, as other reviewers have noted, but there are signs posted throughout the library informing patrons of the special event and time duration the "noises" will occur. The free 4-hour parking lot next to the Library /Danville Community Center buildings is run by the town of Danville. It can get full fast during the day. Have to park along Front Street or the Front Street Public Parking lot (3 hour limit). My only con: The library's heavy wooden glass doors don't have an automatic door button for people who are either disabled or have to push a stroller to get inside.

This is my son’s favorite place. We love the story time, kidchella and much more fun. Separate areas for kids and reading. My son was so excited for his first library card

The librarians here are super nice and very helpful. Also, the library is organized and books are super easy to find!

Dedicated to empowering aspiring business students, I want to express how much our family cherishes the library—from the computer kiosks to Story -Time and everything in between. The staff’s incredible helpfulness truly shines, especially with young children in tow. For those passionate about economics and markets, I’d like to suggest an exciting enhancement: imagine the Danville Library offering access to multiple Bloomberg Terminal instances. With the application currently costing $2,800 per month, providing this resource would not only save families significant expenses but also transform the library into a literary beacon for future business leaders, equipping them with cutting-edge...

There is no reference desk where patrons can consult an actual librarian that is distinguished from the circulation desk. So as far as I can tell, there is really no reason for Danville to pay more money to employ people with MLS degrees to work there, other than the Library Director. They should just get volunteers to staff the library and train them to check books in and out and have volunteer high school students shelve books, since they don't do any reference work at this...
