Overall, the decision of dining here was one that my family and I regret making. They failed to show that they can properly handle a large group of people on a non-busy weekday.
Yes, we had a fairly large party (12) however we did reserve two days in advance so there was a heads up we were coming. Initially everything seemed fine as drinks were ordered and received promptly however the service went downhill from there. Our food order was taken - bread, some appetizers and entrees. The appetizers came out after about 30 minutes along with 3 out of the 12 entrees. The other 9 people received their food another 30-45 minutes after that. This was after we had to pester the staff multiple times to bring us bread and to inquire about when the rest of the food would come out. Obviously a quarter of our group was forced to eat before the others got their food, which really ruined the entire dining experience, and the lengthy delays made it uncomfortable as the staff didn’t check in at all until we spoke up multiple times. I’m no restaurant manager, however I believe it’s fairly standard practice to bring everyone’s entrees out all at once.
I typically give restaurants the benefit of the doubt however they weren’t slammed at all by any means and the meal itself was expensive. I don’t want to ignore that they ended up comping our drinks and apps as a courtesy and admitted that their service was not acceptable, stating the kitchen fell behind - gracious, but a mute gesture after it felt as if we had to put quite a bit of effort in to get our food.
I also don’t want to leave out that our food was very tasty.
Perhaps those who had small groups had a good experience however I would be weary about dining here with a large party on a weekday based on what we...
Read moreI’m not from the area and drove past this cute corner restaurant and decide to give it a try. It was a Wednesday around 12:40pm. Parking was a bit challenging but that could be because I’m unfamiliar with the area. At first glance the restaurant appears “average” but once you walk in and see/feel the atmosphere, that perception instantly changes. It was a lot more “upscale” than I had expected (especially since I had a baby with me which automatically made me feel uncomfortable.) When I was greeted, the first thing I was asked was if I had a reservation (which totally caught me off guard). I did not have one, however the friendly employee by the name of Daniel, sat me and my baby outside on the patio which ended up working out great for us. Since I had my 1 1/2 year old with me in his stroller it really was the best option, plus it was a gorgeous afternoon! Daniel also ended up being my waiter and instantly made me feel welcome there. He even assisted me with my son’s stroller as to help us get to our patio table (which by the way was an adorable, comfy sofa styled set). On to the food: I chose the ravioli and let me say, it was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend. For my little guy, there wasn’t too much for his age category (totally understandable) so he had the chicken strips (which were home made style) and he did love them. Price: yes, this restaurant is definitely on the pricey side, but again, I am not from the area and so this may just be what is normal for Danville, Ca. All and all, I would say, it’s not very kids/family friendly however, I’d love to return one day to have a date there with my husband. Thank you again Daniel for doing your best to make mine and my baby’s experience there as pleasant and enjoyable as possible, you truly...
Read moreWe sat down at 6pm , 6:10 our friends arrived / table of 5, we ordered our drinks and horderves. 6:30 adjacent table seated of 6. we had to ask if we could order dinner. 7:15 the other table was served. We waited 10 more minutes then politely told our server, thank you, maybe it would be best if we just paid our bill now and we regretfully sat down 15 minutes before that other table and are very disappointed. Our waiter said our dinner was ready! 10 minutes later , Now looking at the kitchen, the manager arguing with the Chef (shaking his head no.) I then went inside said to the manager all this is unfortunate may we just pay our bill at this point.
Now this is unbelievable, the lady manager said without empathy or apology " we can wait 15 more minutes or we can take our auntrees to to Go" So may be their food is good or average, but drive up window service! We respectfully paid our bill for $148. for 5 drinks, 2 horderves and 3 bowls of soup. yes $148. My wife gave her water to my son, while they refilled the water at the other table. I understand that he was not our waiter so not his concern. then when paying the bill to manager she said "she was not our waiter, so doesn't understand what happened." still no apology. Here's my thinking with a polite look, - synonyms: be in charge of, run, be head of, head, direct, control, preside over, lead, govern. But the manager is at the front reception podium as if it was her throne and we lift with her as Queen. I have been going out of business for 44 years, one of these days if my team falls short of responsibility we could be them. Proud of my patience in...
