Beijing Restaurant — Restaurant in Darien

Very disappointing in both aspects of customer service and execution of "Chinese Takeout." I've ordered several dishes from this location giving the benefit of the doubt only to be let down consistently. Rice is poorly made (not thoroughly cooked? and dry?) and in dishes such as Sesame chicken, General Tsao chicken, and Sweet and Sour Chicken; the quality of meat is poor and can be considered old or just as dry as the rice. Be warned if you choose to eat here you will need a pretty tall glass of water as it would seem entrees are disiccate (this is not an over-reaction).

In regards to delivery service - I always tip as having worked in a delivery role in the past I know the reliance on tips - however, the particular experiences that I've had with drivers was notably unpleasant. As aforementioned driver(s) would remain at my door after a tip was given as if there was an expectation for the poor delivery time.

In Darien there are few choices when it comes to affordable takeout (and let's face it, for a Chinese food takeout this location is pricier than what one would expect) making Beijing Restaurant a standalone for Eastern Asian cravings, however I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere. This has been my go to Chinese takeout place ever since I moved here and I was SHOCKED to see all of the bad ratings. But after looking at the reviews, it is pretty clear that like all these recent terrible reviews are fake. A lot of the fake reviews are from people who aren’t even in the area, much less the state! For a place to get maybe 1-2 reviews a year to suddenly getting 100+ ones in the span of a month, it’s pretty obvious that something else is at play here. I’ve been coming here for the past few years and I never had any problems with my food or the staff with the exception of that one kid that sometimes took your order. Some days he would be rude or had an attitude. Haven’t seen him the last few times I went so hopefully they came to their senses and let him go! But the other young lady cashier is a sweetheart. My food is always fresh, not salty, AND not greasy, which is a huge plus because a lot of Chinese places have so much grease. They’re also pretty fast with deliveries. If you want a good place for some takeout, I high recommend trying this place (their dumplings are the best) out and judge for yourself. Quite frankly the WORST customer experience I have had in my entire life. I ordered food for delivery. Keep in mind I live less than 3 minutes away. The person who answered the phone was quite rude. Right after he took my order he hung up on me mid-sentence and did not give me a chance to pay. When the driver arrived over an hour later I let him know what happened. The driver then told me to call the restaurant and pay over the phone and then got in his car and left. 5 minutes after paying I received a phone call from the driver's personal phone number and was berated and SCREAMED at because I did not leave a big enough tip when in reality the man who I spoke to on the phone messed up. I feel absolutely disrespected and also feel like my privacy is violated. The driver was threatening and has both my personal phone number and address.
