After playing tennis at the nearby Chelsea Piers CT, I decided to take my Indian friend and his son out for a grilled chicken sandwich. Chose this place at the 11 year old's suggestion.
After being seated, I noticed the way how the young waitress picked up the cash from the previous diners seated one table away from us. She did not say thank you after picking up the cash. It was a father with two young sons. She just whisked on by. I noticed the way how the father deliberately swung by the cash register area to see if she would acknowledge him and say thanks. She did not.
I was worried.
My Indian friend is Hindu -- he does not touch beef. For starters, we ordered nacho chips with salsa. It came out with molten cheese, salsa, GROUND BEEF chili, and sour cream on top. I called the same young lady over to tell her my friend does not eat beef. She looked at me and said, "That is our house nachos with salsa." I kindly asked her to bring us a plate without the ground beef chili. She grudgingly complied.
I asked for grilled chicken sandwich for the two of us and chicken quesadilla for the child and a glass of vanilla shake. The food for the child was fine. But instead of grilled chicken sandwich, she brought out Crispy Chicken Sandwich, with deep-fried chicken cutlet inside. I asked the young lady over -- another young lady who was working the same shift -- and told her that we had asked for a grilled chicken sandwich. She did not seem to be too happy to have to take the plates back to the kitchen.
This time, it took them a very long time to bring out the plate of grilled chicken sandwich. The food was brought out by a gentleman, I assume, was the shift manager. He apologized politely before bringing the food out.
The grilled chicken sandwich had bacon inside. I did not know club sandwiches, come with bacon. [This is my fault for not making sure prior to placing the order] My Hindu friend was clearly not pleased. He picked through the sandwich and left out the bacon before proceeding to have his long-waited for sandwich.
The total bill came out to be $61, $71 after the tip. I read the reviews from other reviewers and I have to agree that the prices seem to be a bit too high.
I understand the process could have been smoothed over with more clear communication and confirmation from both sides, the patron and the restauranteur. But, I am extremely disappointed at shall I say, "haplessness" or "cluelessness" of the clearly young looking and may I guess teenaged serving staff?
I am trying to be helpful and bring attention to an experience I hope other patrons do not get to experience at this...
Read moreThis location definitely has issues compared to the Cos Cob/Greenwich location. The wait staff simply doesn't follow directions/requests. We travel from Westchester county to Darien Connecticut. It takes about 40 minutes. When placing an order we ask to delay the food being made So it doesn't get cold before we get there. They assure us they won't and then proceed to immediately make the food and let it sit on the counter for 30 minutes before we get there to pick it up. We pay $26 per burger x2 and get ice cold burgers with soggy buns and fries that you can throw in the garbage. All because the wait staff does what they want instead of what the customer wants. I've spoken to the owner of this establishment in person, he's a very nice gentleman. But he needs new wait staff desperately. You can thank the only female server on this date at 8:30 at night for my review. She is the face of your business, and your business no longer has this customer...
Read moreI tried to like this place, but we've tried it 3 times now and each time left disappointed. On our last visit, Pablo was very rude to us for no reason. We had a very happy two year old and a three year old, who were happily playing peek-a-boo in an EMPTY restaurant (There were only 2 other people on the other side of the restaurant). He immediately came over and made a snarky comment about how inconsiderate we were being of the other "patrons". Seriously, how much noise can you make playing peek a boo? Give me a break. There were only 2 other patrons, high school students who were on the other side of the restaurant and seemed unphased by the happy noises so I know his attitude wasn't because somebody complained.
Maybe management should consider why this place is ALWAYS EMPTY! Just go to shake shack down the street, where the food is better and the people are friendlier. We won't be back...
