Stop & Shop — Local services in Darien

Was appalled by the number of people who were not adhering to the 6’ social distancing guideline. Some customers seemed oblivious to the fact that there is a highly contagious virus among us, and instead of keeping any distance, would actually come and stand only inches away to look at the fruit or canned good or whatever. One lady and her teen daughter walked so close to me that the teen’s jacket actually brushed against mine. At the register, 4 employees stood only a few inches from me and each other. A customer had me blocked in with her carriage so close it was almost touching me - she was not keeping her 6’ distance either. I paid quickly, threw my food in my bag and ran out of the store. I called the manager when i got to my car, told him about the four employees standing barely 6 inches apart, and his response was “Oh, they forget”. Unacceptable!! As manager, it is his duty to remind them, and to encourage and empower them, to remind each other to keep 6 FEET apart. “We have signs hanging around the store to remind people” he said. Well the signs ain’t working, so perhaps get on the loudspeaker and remind EVERYONE to KEEP A MINIMUM 6’ DISTANCE BETWEEN YOURSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE so we can slow and finally stop the spread of this virus. Here's a five-star review you won't soon forget. Haven't shopped at Stop&Shop for over 20 years until currently but so glad I'm now reacquainted. Lena, and also Debbie, at the Customer Service desk and checkout-kiosks, most personably and efficiently takes the time to beautifully assist each customer. Upon each of my visits, Ken, the manager, does an exquisite job of roaming throughout the store to check and ascertain quality, freshness, selection, presentation, from each of the staff teams. Quick examples of my trip today: Fried Chicken batter and pieces better than most restaurants; Pumpkin muffins better than most bakeries in NY or Philadelphia; Cheese selections are for the connoisseur; Substantial markdowns on meat, produce and bakery give you a real break. Every employee I have encountered has been very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable of their jobs. The cashier's have been delightful. I normally shop at the Shop and Stop at Ridgeway that is down the street from my house but I come once a week to this Stop and Shop because I go to a Doctor at 800 Post Road every week. After my appointment, I walk over with my Rollator (walker) to do some shopping. I find it so convenient. At home in Stamford I live on top of a hill and we do not drive but in Darien from my Doctor's office to SandS is a few flat blocks. I then call Uber to bring me back home with my groceries. Works out nicely for me. I love visiting the Darien...
