The SoNo Baking Company & Cafe - Darien — Restaurant in Darien

I was in town visiting my parents with my two kids and had decided to take a stop into this bakery in the morning around 9am. My first impression was that the store was clean, food was displayed nicely, and looked appealing to the eye. When I went to order, the cashier who started helping me came off as rude. I remember specifically that she had a bit of an attitude with me. She seemed very unpleasant and unhappy to be working there. Rather than being courteous and patient, I felt extremely rushed because my kids weren’t exactly sure what they had wanted for breakfast right away. Aside from that poor experience, the food was great. I loved what I had and my kids loved their breakfast as well. It’s sad that the only reason I will not be coming to this place again is only because I felt intimidated by this woman (older blonde lady with glasses) in front of my kids. Worked near this bakery though I'd go in during my lunch and see what they have. So I decided to get just a regular ol sandwich not toasted or anything fancy, just a ham and cheese. It took over 45 minutes for it! Get this I'm the only one in here too! Then she asks if she can help me.. um yeah you can get my sandwich I ordered 45 minutes ago and have been sitting in front of you. To top it off it's an 11 dollar sandwich. Totally not worth it. I highly recommend never coming here. Awful service and product. If I could do less then 1 star it would...

Stumbled on this bakery while staying with a friend in Rowayton -- can I just say, having lived in /visited many large cities with great bakeries and no shortage of artisanal options, this one takes the cake, so to speak ... I was blown away. Had breakfast goods (burrito and croissant BEC - divine!) + pastries, cold brew was also some of the best. A++ 6 stars if I could. Best vegan cookie I've had from a bakery, as well. Keep up the amazing work, Darien SONO...
