We've been patrons of both this location and Brady St. for over eight years. We quit going to the Brady Street location years ago due to their horrible customer service and dismissive attitude. Now, we're doing the same with the Utica Ridge location. I even wrote a complaint letter to the Brady Street location back in 2004 and never heard a word from them. It's clear they just do not care.
Ambiance, space, cleanliness and food quality are good, but all that is marred by the less than acceptable customer service.
I think tonight finally drove the final nail in the coffin. It's Valentine's Day, so sure, the place is packed. They were understaffed and our waitress never came back to refill drinks or check in on us. I can't fault her too much since it appeared they needed more help. I went back to the kitchen myself and grabbed a to-go container and started packing up my leftovers when she arrived at the table (finally). She mumbled something about our bill, left it on the table and walked away. No apologies, nothing.
When we went up to pay our bill, the cashier asked how everything was. I said "not good" and explained that our waitress didn't come back over to our table after our meal was served. The cashier just stared blankly at me and swiped my card. No "I'm sorry to hear that", no effort to apologize or make things better, just an indifferent stare. Why ask if you don't really care or intend to do something about it?
Their service has never been great (wait staff often looks away when taking your order... with their mind on something else) and their "hostesses" (the people who greet and seat you) rarely offer any pleasantries when you come in, often waiting for YOU to say hello. Just a "how many?". No hello, nothing.
We quit going to the Brady Street location due to poor service and this location, sadly, is no better. I don't expect people to fawn all over me, but some basic customer service, attention and care could really be used by this place.
After all these years, we're finally done....
Read moreMexican food is a thing I crave sometimes at the end of the day, especially if work runs long. The Quad Cities is quite fortunate to have multiple Los Agaves restaurants throughout the area, including this location on Utica Ridge Rd.
My recent visit to this location was similar to other visits, in the sense that I came alone after getting off work late. After stepping through the vestibule and speaking with the host, I was seated quickly, per my request at the bar.
The interior of the space is styled throughout to have that brightish, newer adobe aesthetic throughout the space. The bar is a tasteful black stone of some sort (granite, perhaps?) and the general noise level is relatively quiet, even when the restaurant is full. All of these aspects have endeared this location to me, as the cleanliness and low noise level are a huge personal plus.
Even though I was at the bar, the server got my drink and food order relatively quickly. I opted for a combination plate (my normal combo #1 with a taco, enchiladas and rice). The food was exactly as expected - just as tasty as usual! As I finished eating, I was able to pay and leave just as quickly.
In summary, I foresee many return trips to Los Agaves when the craving strikes. Thanks for the great...
Read moreCame to Los Agaves after suggesting it to some family because I’ve been before and had good food with OKAY service. This time, the server was very rude. She was upset when someone asked her to take the food back after it was made wrong. The server said she wrote it correctly but knew the kitchen wouldn’t do it (which is weird all by itself). We then ordered a large pitcher of margaritas and it didn’t have any alcohol in it. We asked if there was a mistake and if an extra shot or two could be placed if it was not, and the server told us she would just get us water taking the pitcher away. The server dropped the check on the table and never returned. When we got up to walk to the front to pay the bill we asked if we had to pay up front and was answered yes, but a table nearby said they paid at their table when they overheard. No one was even able to get a box for their food!!! Food is good but definitely not good enough for this horrible customer service! If I wanted a rude server I would go to Dick’s Last Resort where they’re paid for it. Won’t suggest anyone go...
