We have been to the Filling Station many times over the past 20+ years. Tonight will more than likely be our last. We like to order the shrimp dinner with a baked potato and salad. When we entered tonight we were greeted by a young hostess who was drinking a soda at the hostess station. She told us to follow her to a table where she literally threw the menus on the table along with our silverware and left. We sat for a few minutes when a waitress approached our table and introduced herself. Then proceeded to tell us they they were way short of staff tonight - “ just letting you know.” I wanted to ask her if that gave us a discount or if it meant they wanted us to leave. Anyway, we placed our orders only to find out that they no longer have baked potatoes. We agreed on a side salad instead with an upcharge and ordered onion rings. We had already ordered a beer which we didn’t have yet. After a significant wait, our waitress set our shrimp and salads in front of us at the same time. Still no beers. No onion rings. Then she threw the onion rings on our table, at which time I told her that we no longer wanted them. She said that the shrimp did come up really fast but she would have to get her manager. After a short wait, the manager came to our table with our beers. My salad is warm, the shrimp will be cold by time I eat the warm salad. Just a really bad scenario. The manager said she was sorry and that she had been there since 7am this morning. The shrimp was a lesser quality than they used to serve. We were issued a discount on our meals. I used to consider the Filling Station as a restaurant with a bar, now it is a bar with bar food. More than likely we won’t be back and I am quite certain they don’t care if they ever see us again. The waitress delivered our meal ticket and took our payment without speaking to us. They were not full...
Read moreVery fun casual atmosphere with a bar in the middle you sit and eat at or just sit and drink. The outdoor/patio seating is also really nice perfect durning these warmer days for a little vodka lemonade or mojito, nice and refreshing. Also a volleyball area for league or just for fun. The food is always great I have never been disapointed or not liked something. If ur hungry, can eat a lot, and like tenderloin sandwiches. Then have the excellent 3/4 pound breaded tenderloin. Pretty much a big deal and kinda award winning . The staff is always fast and friendly. Never rude or short. The employees even if having a bad day dont show it and leave it at the door. All smiles and friendly service. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff and menu are too notch. The menu has a great variety from pizza and burgers to amazing wing breaded or baked. With I think 10 different sauces give or take a few that are all good. Great place to come unwind after work with some co workers or friends to hang out. The breakfast or brunch is also great used to come every sunday after church with my grandma and family. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. One of the first places I suggest to new people to town or people visiting and have never been to the quad cities. The bad part is when they are all done eating a few times have said I wish I didn't come because we dont have filling...
Read moreAh yes...date day with my beloved Wife, or as we call it since I’m getting “old”, Costco run! And, after Costco, what else is there to do besides, find a good burger for lunch. Today, we went to The Filling Station in Davenport. From the outside, this is a really neat place. It’s designed as an old time gas station, and when you walk in, the theme continues. Old signs galore inside from old service stations. This joint has quite the list of specialty burgers, but as always, I chose the named burger, The Filling Station Burger and broccoli. She went with a chicken caesar wrap, coleslaw, and sweet potato fries. I’m normally not a person who likes these fries, but “These are amazing,” was even Her words. They were pretty darn good honestly. The burger was also very tasty. It comes with some mayonnaise on it, and I would probably recommend adding ketchup and mustard. I also prefer a burger more on the medium side, but even cooked more to the well side, it was still pretty flavorful. Definitely a great place, and worth a stop if you’re in Davenport, IA.
Stopped back by this place, since not realizing the "Award winning Tenderloin". All I can say is wow. It's literally 8 inches of pork tenderloin. It is the biggest one I've ever seen or eaten. But, it's not the best I've ever had. It was a little on the dry side, and probably because it's on the thin side. Cooking that would be a challenge not...
