After a disappointing and frustrating day, I decided I was going to splurge on myself for dinner - especially since my dinner partner decided to bail on me tonight with no notice. He definitely missed out!

Since I was alone I decided I was going to venture out and try a place I’d never been nor heard anything about.

Costa Del Mar Mexican grill & Seafood turned out to be a great choice to dine. From the moment I walked in the door, I was treated like royalty. A team of staff members greeted me at the door. All three of them were personable and very friendly.

When seated I was greeted by Jasmine, who immediately told me to call her Jazz to keep it simple. From the initial conversation she displayed a genuine pleasure in her job. Even with her mask on, her smile was evident throughout the night!

Like just about every Mexican or Latin restaurant I’ve dined at over the years, my experience began with tortilla chips and salsa. Jazz suggested the cheese sauce. The chips were great. Nice and crisp. Unfortunately, the salsa was much like that at many other places I’ve water. Nothing made it stand out. Pretty plain. However, the cheese sauce recommended by Jasmine was GREAT. Thick, rich, and creamy. The sauce cling d to the chips due to the thickness. The taste was delightful!!!

My first challenge with this evening’s experience was the menu. Costa Del Mar has an extensive menu of dinners, entrees, and a la carte items. I truly struggled trying to decide what to order. I had to tell Jazz four times that I needed more time. Poor woman!

Just as I was about to ask for more time a fifth time, a photo caught my eye. It was a cheese covered pineapple. I ask what it was. It was Piña Relleno. I was clueless what it was, how can you go wrong with cheese and pineapple?

When the plate arrive, the scent made my nose go crazzzzy! Coconut and pineapple permeated the air and my nose did its happy dance!

When I peeled back the thick layer of golden melted cheese, I was delighted to discover shrimp, crab, coconut, pineapple chunks, and scallops. Talk about a seafood festival right there in my pineapple!

Each seafood component maintained its individual flavor while simultaneously contributing to the multifaceted flavor profile of the dish as a whole. The sweet and tangy interplay between the pineapple and coconut was phenomenal! Absolutely delicious.

The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The corn in the rice was sweet and tender.

The final course of my meal was, of course dessert. Y’all know I don’t miss dessert!! I ordered flam, one of my fave desserts. Recently I’ve had a run of bad luck with flan at local eateries. I did not hold out too much hope for tonight’s flan and was praying for at least average flan. Again, I was surprised and delighted at what was served to me. The flan was delish. Copious amounts of whipped cream, caramel sauce, and fresh strawberries. Totally great!

I now come to the REAL star of tonight’s meal. Jasmine was stellar from start to finish! Her personality and professionalism were spot on all night. She was patient with me throughout my decision making process. She was quite attentive to me as well as her other customers throughout the evening. There was never a dirty plate, empty glass, or used napkin on my table. She was not aggressive in her upsell suggestions. Jasmine has truly raised the bar of my expectations in relation to severs to a whole new level! Servers in other establishments , if you want to know what amazing service looks like drop by this place and be seated in Jasmine’s section.

Costa Del Mar Team, you all rocked tonight. Your team delivered amazing service, deliscious food, and a customer experience unrivaled by any ice had in the Quad Cities! Thank you. I will definitely be returning soon with friends!

Kudos to the entire staff for wearing masks and gloves. Props for maintaining social distancing while remaining personable, professional,...

Although the food isn’t that bad, the customer service is HORRIBLE! I order food for takeout and when I picked up my order and when I got home I opened the bag to come to find that they gave me someone else’s order. I immediately called and spoke with the manger, Marco. He confirmed they mixed up my order and gave me the wrong order. The girl there had my order. I was not going to eat what they accidentally gave me. It was not something I’d ever pick off the menu. Marco told me to come in and they would give me a refund. I told him it was late and I wasn’t going back that way. I went in to get my money back but Marco wasn’t there. There was another “manager” there that REFUSED to give me my money back. I even brought the wrong order back in with me. The “manger”, or he claimed to be a manger but told me he couldn’t do anything about it! He tried to convince me to come back tomorrow and I told him I was not going to be coming back as it’s way out of the way for me. The “manger” REFUSED to give me my money back! I held strong and firm and let him know I made the trip all the way back to get my money so they needed to give me my refund as Marco stated since they messed up and gave me the wrong order! The “manger” tried to cut me off when I was asking him questions as to the next steps since he called and talked to Marco and he was going to call the “manger” back! Finally after about 10 mins of issues and refusing to refund me, Marco called back and told him to give me a refund. So then magically this “manger” can give me my money after straight lying to me saying he couldn’t give money out! I will not be recommending this place to anyone! The customer service is digusting! Bad for business! You really cannot give a nice customer their money back that’s $13?! What a...

BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN THE QC AREA. I never write reviews but it was such a good experience, I knew I had to. It was my first time attending this restaurant and I’m so glad we choose it over Azteca. First thing to mention, when my date and I walked in we noticed that 95% of the customers were ethically Mexican or Latinx, that’s when we KNEW the food was about to slap. The staff was very friendly and we were seated immediately event though it was very busy. Our waitress was attentive and my water and my dates drink never was fully empty, and I’m a thirsty gal. I was a bit wary about the prices but my lord above, not only was the food presentation amazing (I was shocked) the food was easily the most tasteful and well prepared food I had ever had (and I’m a picky eater). The avocado was fresh, the guacamole was amazing, their rice was perfect, and don’t get me started on their pork and chicken. My date and I were trying each other’s food because it was just that good! From now on I will be going there for my Mexican food fix, and I cannot wait to go back! Next time I will be trying their drinks, the table next to us ordered bloody Mary’s and it looked to die for. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS SMALL BUSINESS, they are a true gem and the Quad Cities needs real, authentic food that everyone can enjoy! I would give them 100 stars but...

It was our first time here and I love seafood. I never thought I’d find a really good seafood restaurant in the Quad Cities. I have really high expectations in eating seafood since I come from Pacific Islands but the food in this restaurant came really close to home. It’s like seafood overload. The serving was a lot, which is always a plus for me in any restaurant that I go to. The food was excellent. The chicharon appetizer is a freaking MUST. I was very skeptical in ordering anything that has the word “chicharon” because I always think of it as super fatty, but this is not. It’s like fish fries but the fish just melts in your mouth when you chew it. We ordered the Pulpa thingy too (I’m sorry I forgot the names of what we ordered), which was octopus with garlic sauce. I was kinda skeptical too on how the octopus was cooked, but they cooked it perfectly—it’s not too gummy and it’s not hard to chew at all. And then we ordered Paella, a small one, that I couldn’t even finish. It was loaded with different kinds of seafood. We couldn’t finish everything so we had to take it home, but we were so full and satisfied. This is another go-to seafood restaurant in the Quad Cities. A really must try! We will definitely eat here again! ❤️

Bad service first and foremost. The flights are $24 the purpose of flights is a tasting without paying the full price. The food is so bad. I ordered the el grande burrito and they gave me just meat and rice and when I asked the waitress she went to the kitchen and came back with the manager who argued me DOWN about it being “little bit of beans” it’s there and said if I wanted more they would charge me for a side of beans. The smallest scoop of guacamole I’ve ever had. I got the house margarita and it was so salty that we couldn’t even drink them it taste like straight saline. My sister got taquitos and they burned them to a crisp. There wasn’t any meat inside hardly. I did a review on tiktok and was live and have video footage of the waitress and manager being dismissive about the burrito only having meat and rice. You can get better food at Taco Bell. Save your money seriously.
