I'm not usually a fan of boba tea, however, I did bring two experts with me to guide me through and sample some teas with me. This is a cozy little place in a strip mall just off 113 and far enough away from campus as to avoid traffic, so it's very convenient. It was busy in the mid afternoon but our order was ready very quickly. We ordered: Thai tea w/ Cream Brûlée, Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea, Oreo Brûlée Milk Tea, Tiramisu Milk tea, White Peach Oolong milk tea and finally, Popcorn Chicken. Before I get to the teas, I gotta say the Popcorn Chicken was fantastic. Good size portion and the perfect amount of spice. I'd go back just for the PC. Now, the teas. Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of boba but I did enjoy sampling all that we ordered. My favorite was the Thai Tea w/ Cream Brûlée then the Oreo Brûlée. My wife really liked the Peach Oolong and the Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea with 50% sugar. My 15 yo liked them all and even saved the cups for the cute bunny. The only thing I have to complain about is that we didn't get the Tiramisu Milk tea. By the time we noticed, we were halfway through the extra Brown Sugar we got instead. We weren't shorted, just a mistaken order that wasn't caught in the beginning. We travel through Davis quite often so we will definitely be back. Me for the chicken and the Teas...
Read moreI've given Ume a few tries by now, and wish I could say I loved it the way other reviewers seem to.
TLDR; It's mid at best. Nothing is particularly good tasting. It's just half decent.
Boba/Milk Tea: When it comes to a simple boba tea, I can say honestly that it's not the best I've had by far. The milk tea just doesn't taste fresh. The Boba is just kinda there. They have some unique flavors on their menu, but they all feel pretty gimmicky and dont feel like I could trust it given the dissapointing simple teas I have tried.
Takoyaki: The Takoyaki is probably the one thing I could like. It's not the best I've had, but for the price, they do give you a bit more than other places will. It can, however, be quite soft and gooey.
Popcorn Chicken: Hard pass. Couldn't even finish it. It was soggy and didn't have any particular flavor to it.
Overall: I think perhaps things are left out for quite a bit here, or not as fresh as they could be - the tea and food. Whatever it is, nothing really feels "fresh" despite the many times I've...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for a couple years, what originally pulled me in was in seeing a video on social media about the cups with hidden mystery plushie inside! The location they displayed in the video was almost an hour away but I HAD to try at least once, so imagine my surprise when I found out there was a location local to me in davis! Ever since, Ume tea has been my favorite boba shop. The bunny surprise cups pulled me in, but the drinks, atmosphere and the adorable bunny themed merch(bunnies are my favorite animal) kept me coming back! My favorite drink is the white peach oolong milk tea(the pink whipped cream is so cute and yummy!) and I finally got the chance to drag my bf here and guess what? It’s his favorite boba shop now too! His favorite drink so far is the mango pomelo sago ! The food is tasty, I love the fried tofu. The seasoning on it is perfect! Even my partner who usually doesn’t like tofu took a bite and said “You know, I almost couldn’t even tell...
