Good old hometown cooking is exactly what ya get. The good ol boys are watching out for ya after they get their kicks. Bathroom was locked and they were watching me try to enter then they got the key to let me in. The coffee was pretty good and the waitress was definitely kept busy and a majority of the people were locals. Well done home fries is a favorite of hubby and these did not disappoint. Another post said it was the ghetto but I can tell you that country music playing and individuals being as nice as everyone was would not deter me from going back here.

A great little diner with great prices. I got 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, 3 sausage links and toast for $6.25. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I am not a big hash brown fan, but ate everyone at Abner’s. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The also serve burgers and have a daily dinner special for each day of the week. A definite hidden gem in Dayton.

After years of driving past there, I decided to try it and man, was it a great idea! Good coffee, cheap food, but it's large portions you get. The only thing I wish they did different was toast the buns first. I guess if you ask they would do it.

I went in for lunch with my 4 year old for the first time and was greatly disappointed. The restaurant is microscopically small. We took a seat at the bar. There was one waitress and she had her hands full. The customers looked hung over and monopolized the waitresses time. It took her 15 minutes to take my small order of 2 hamburgers and a fry. She was too busy chatting up the customers and servicing their make shift drive thru window. I noticed the cook was an older woman with bouffant hair, she wore NO hair net and I saw NO visible gloves on her hands as she prepared my food. The prices are decent but they charge you for every little extra you want like cheese, onions pickles etc. I had to ask for ketchup packets and mustard. They were not offered to me. The food itself was undercooked and the bun was soggy from the grease of the hamburger. I would rather spend my money at McDonald's. I threw my food away and got out of there fast. I have been to many small joints all over Montgomery county but this place is...

One of the last old-school diners left hanging on in a world of fast food and "sit down" chains, this place has the spirit and charm that is essential to any good hole in the wall eatery that hopes to stay afloat. Excellent variety and quality of dishes, from classic diner fare to a surprisingly good Greek Salad, and an Apple Pie that is absolutely to die for, Abner's is a wonderful little time capsule that can take you back a few decades to a simpler time, when reaturaunts taking cash only was the norm, and you could find a neighborhood diner like this one in almost every city district or small town. But dealing in cash isn't a massive inconvenience for those of us who typically stick to plastic- the prices are plenty reasonable, and a twenty will more than cover a decent meal and beverages for two, so there's no need to bring a wad of cash...

First time my family has ordered food here. Our order was carry out but that shouldn't really matter. Place was very dirty so I was glad we got the order to go. The hamburgers were burned and so hard that they found their way into the dogs bowls. The lettuce was brown and should have been thrown out. The rest of the order(some breakfast items, some lunch) were not much better. The onion rings were soggy. Plus, we were charged roughly 15%-20% higher than the online menu prices. Hard to be certain as we were not given a receipt. Very disappointing and definitely...
