First off.food is horrible, over priced,I know it's the old time theme but get real nobody wants to eat slop from a dirty kitchen, yeah dirty kitchen recently failed a inspection,I personally know numerous people that cook an work here.so here it is,they have a chef in there" ed green" horrible person ,drug addict, smokes marijuana in the parking lot right under management, oh wait hes the head chef,so you can call that management Too i guess, bad drunk, shows up drunk, takes out all his frustration out on the kitchen staff, has no clue how to run a kitchen, yes he has a cooking certificate, but who don't ,he's causing a unsafe work environment for all staff ,front an back, the so called chef has multiple freinds on staff ,dylan, will, paulett, mike, treats them very well, gives them all the hours they want ,at the same time taking hours from others, throwing things, cussing, verily aggressive torwards co-workers,the whole house is in disray.all employees are on a ,at will contract,so if the wind blows they can fire you on the spot, its definitely ashame that the owners are letting things like this to happen,it is most definitely effects others from wanting to spend money an eat at this establishment, I personally will never spend a dollar eating here, you want good food go next door to culps cafe they will treat you well an you won't have to worry about cutting your lip on chipped dirty plates that a million people ate off of,even though they were washed, think about it,that plate an an cup/mug had everybody an there mothers mouth on it. Read moreWent to the brewery this weekend as an attempt to try something new – I not only wanted to try the food, but wanted to see how they make beer like it was done in the 1800’s. The building itself is very cool - lots of brick and woodwork, a fire going inside, staff all dressed in 1800's garb. We were seated quickly, and our drink order was taken and delivered well. We placed our order for food after a bit (which was fine as we were sipping on our flight of beer). The beer, by the way, was nothing to write home about. The website touts the beer as being crafted like they did originally (in the 1800's), but this beer tastes no different than any other brewery. It was fine, just nothing special. We ordered the pretzel braid as an appetizer, and it came with bier cheese and mustard, and was delicious. We waited an extremely long time for our two meals to come out - to the point that our server informed us it was my fish (in my fish and chips) that was causing the delay. Imagine my surprise when the food finally arrived at our table that the fries were significantly hotter than the fish. As an aside - how was this fish not beer-battered?!? We were in a brewery, and the fish was breaded, not battered. SMH. My partner had ordered the burger, and not only was his burger covered in char, so was the bun. Some char on a burger provides the satisfaction of a burger cooked over an open flame - but no one wants a char-puck. The fries definitely seemed to be the frozen, seasoned variety, as some were permanently fused to each other. The cole slaw was run-of-the-mill cole slaw. By the time we “finished” our meals, we weren’t feeling like ourselves, so we didn’t even bother to see if there was any information or a walk through of the brewery itself. The server did give us 10% off our bill due to our wait for the food. It was nice gesture, but we will...
Read moreIt saddens me to leave this review but the place has not recovered from their COVID revisions. This was once a period themed table service restaurant that rivaled anything you would find at Disney World.
Now, a place once known for their amazing food, service, and atmosphere is no more.
Food: a VERY limited fixed menu. The specials board usually has more options, but no descriptions and not kept up to date. You will not find period, made in a scratch kitchen options. Instead, look forward to deep fried cauliflower pieces from a frozen Sysco bag.
Service: Once upon a time, diners were greeted and told about the the beer-making process and made the meal an experience. Not you order at the bar to a girl with gothic makeup and wardrobe who is annoyed to enter a food order and then pissed when you do not tip 25%. The food runners are polite, but there is no experience here beyond what you’d get at Mcalisters Deli.
Atmosphere: the building is still beautiful, but the charm is gone. Soap dispensers barely work in the bathroom; faucets are in need of repair. Tables are so far apart it appears they sold some to raise money. Cobwebs in the windows, dust on the pipes, filth on the floor. The smell of the wood fire was great, and on a 90 degree day, the AC was kicking butt. But, no music playing, leaves from last fall at the entry, outside seating a mess, dirty plates and food baskets.
Leadership needs to decide what they are doing with this space. If they want to continue to serve bar food, then throw up some big screen TVs, add tables and lower your prices. If you want to stay true to your mission, mandate uniforms, clean the place, keep “modern day” tools in the back of house, update the menu, hire a chef, add tables and waitstaff. I’d pay more for the right experience, but for what I received today, I...
