We went for dinner at 7:00pm 6/20/2020, First of all - I didn't feel comfortable going to A restaurant in this current unknown Virus situation that's happening, but for my wife and her family members - I went with them to js'. Well I won't be going to another restaurant or any event for a very long time after the experience here at js old town Bistro. My complaints are as follows, our heavy set server wearing a purple shirt and partially wearing a bright colored mask, - (we were sitting by the front door across from the bar in the center of the restaurant) - this girl (our server) kept reaching across our food and drinks while constantly having her mask off, then the old lady hostess at the front door started not wearing her mask when within 6 feet? WTF⁉ Then this old lady starts reaching over our food also - WTF⁉ Then - I kid you not , the kid that was going around taking dishes away from tables - starts reaching over food and drinks - ( he wore his mask though, but still)- again (add sebastian Maniscalco character/voice here)-WTF‼ These people made me feel Uneasy and at risk and are not in compliance with the Covid Code of Conduct. Then just to make things worse, my brother in law ordered the clam pasta meal and got food poisoning - He's hugging the toilet as I write this - he definitely has food poisoning! In conclusion: The staff at this restaurant Need to wear their masks all the way over their nose and mouth when within 6 feet of anyone ! STOP reaching over people's food and drinks., reprimand your employees for not wearing their masks. Also Don't use old or bad food ingredients that cause food poisoning. Also most of their tables and booths have tall chairs - I'm 6'6 and even for me the chairs at most of their tables are TOO High up and uncomfortable - get some booths people- won't be...
Read moreThe decor and location is great. Ample parking and a nice breeze. Great decor that ties it all together. When you make reservations be sure to ask for booth otherwise you will be seated in the awkward location in the middle where people walk all around & there is no privacy & have to yell to have a convo. Seating in the middle has no lighting & it’s difficult to read menu. You have to hold your menu to the side to get the reflection to see what the restaurant offers. I had the J chicken cordon blue. Needs a lot more sauce & the pastry Philo dough for crust on chicken is very thin & wished it was a bit thicker. Chicken was moist & tender. Pasta was dry due to lack of sauce. My veggies were delicious & well season with the exception of them being cold on top & warm on bottom. The garlic bread is an oversized crouton. Mine was blackened. My husband got the machaca stuffed chicken breast. His mashed potatoes & veggies were cold on top as well and warm on bottom? We ended our night with crème brûlée which should either be served in a different dish or have more inside the dish they use. It was served with a thin layer of custard with the typical burnt hard sugary topping. Unfortunately you could almost see the bottom of dish, that is how thin it was. Took 3 scoops to get my spoon filled for a bite. Blueberry pomegranate margarita was tasty & refreshing but only 3 sips due to my glass being filled mainly with ice. Hostess is super kind and friendly. May...
Read moreFirst time at Js' Reservations recommended for Friday & Saturday night. ...We did not have a reservation, but when the hostess realized it was our first visit she kindly found us a table. Kerry our server was great!! (It can be hard to find skilled servers, Kerry was skilled!!)
The food... really amazing!
My honey ordered the Glazed Salmon over basmati sesame rice with cashews, a little veggies and garlic bread Also includes a salad, he chose Caesar.
I had Chicken Marsala served over fettuccine, loads of veggies and garlic bread. I chose the house salad with gorgonzola dressing.
I'm not quite sure where to start... Best salad ever! Both salads were great! The unexpected star on my salad was the little Peruvian peppers, also known as sweety drop peppers. Little tiny things with a sweet tangy pop of YUM! The meals were both equally amazing! The salmon had a nice sweet & spicy glaze. The Marsala sauce was rich and bold with plenty of mushrooms. Honestly I do a little happy dance when I get really good food... I was happy dancing!! The meals were cooked perfectly! All in all a really great dining experience set is a really cool historic building in historic Dayton! Thank you Kerry!!!! I very highly recommend Js'...
