We wanted to treat my mother-in-law to dinner here for her birthday, so my husband made reservations. I had been many years ago and always had a pleasant experience, but my husband has never been and was looking forward to dining here given the reputation. It's a beautiful restaurant and most seats have a great view. The hostess was friendly and politie and greeted us as we entered, and we were seated within a few minutes after arriving. The location of the table wasn't ideal - I'm pretty sure, after a quick glance around the room, we were seated in the worst table in the building. It was a round table, right in front of the salad bar and bathrooms. It was a busy corner of the restaurant and again, was overlooking the bathroom and salad bar.

Our server was friendly but not super attentive. I ordered the black linguini di mare and it was completely undercooked. Every single bite I took was crunchy. I hate complaining at restaurants, but it was inedible so I shared this with the server. I showed him how I could take one piece of pasta and it would be cooked on one side and I could literally break it in half on the other. He assured me "it is supposed to be black, it's the squid ink", which I obviously knew because I read the menu but also showed me he wasn't listening to my concern if he thought that's what I was complaining about. I politely repeated myself, and he went back to the kitchen and the chef assured him it was supposed to be that way because they put a garnish of fried pasta on top. I again showed him that the pasta was not cooked all the way but he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I tried to eat around it but literally the majority of the pasta was not cooked. He came back to check in and saw that I hadn't eaten anything and asked if I wanted a box. I politely told him no because this isn't cooked all the way, and he grabbed the plate to take it away. There were no apologies and no offer to order something else or have a manager come to the table. We were still charged for the dish. I didn't want to make an even bigger deal of it (I had already brought it to his attention several times) so we just dealt with it and paid the bill. I was not expecting a free meal - I just wanted my meal cooked appropriately or my concerns heard and validated.

We also ordered the lava cake which was disappointing as well, especially having to wait 30 minutes for it. We knew we had to wait so we expected something phenomenal (it used to be, years ago. Perhaps the recipe changed?) The cocktails were okay. I enjoyed my espresso martini, but my husband did not care for his drink (pomegranate mojito) . I also enjoyed the salad bar - lots of great options! I just wish our table wasn't directly in front of it.

This is considered an upscale restaurant in the area, yet the service and quality were lacking. Given our experience, and what I've read from some recent reviews, next time we're in town looking for a nice meal, we will likely...

Went to dinner with a group of 8 to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. Service was slow including waiting a long time for 1st round of drinks. Asked for extra bread 3 times and never received it. It took an hour to get appetizers. The appetizers were good. After another long wait the soup eventually was served but was cold. Waited again a very long time for 2nd round of drinks. When we asked the waitress for our drinks again she said she thought someone else brought them to us. After 2 hours our meals were finally served. Everything was cold including the salmon, steaks and vegetables. Someone ordered prime rib and they brought out a steak, one steak was ordered medium but was well done and the chicken was burnt and looked like it came from an anorexic chicken. The pasta and shrimp was dried out and hard, the mashed potatoes were cold and tasted like they were sitting out for a long time and the asparagus was cold and mushy. I immediately got up to complain and asked for the manager. No one came to the table. Both my husband and I went to the kitchen to ask for a manager and they were huddled in there apparently discussing what to do. My husband told the manager she should have immediately come to the table to address the complaints and that she needs to do her job. Also, it’s worth mentioning that they sat us in an area near the stairwell which was an odd place and the restaurant was not busy. There was plenty of seating elsewhere. One of our guest’s seat was close to a pole not providing any room for restaurant staff to get through but instead of walking around they continued to squeeze by him. At one point a staff member had a tray of empty wine glasses and squeezed by him holding the tray of glasses over his head! That is a huge safety hazard! It was the worst experience we’ve ever had. After having a discussion about all the issues with the manager, she said she would comp our bill but my husband’s birthday was ruined and we left at 9:00 still hungry as we didn’t eat the cold meals. We gave the waitress a cash tip as she was pleasant and we don’t know why the service was so bad. Hopefully the owner will inquire with us so we can discuss these issues and a plan of action for corrective action can be put in place to make it a better experience for their customers. Many of the poor reviews have...

On 2/25/24 we chose to celebrate our 23rd Anniversary at the Daytona CH and as a Landry member, this wasn't our first time here. We have been celebrating our anniversary dinner here for over 15 years, and tonight's experience was very subpar and very disappointing as we look forward to this EVERY year.

After being seated for a while, probably about 10 mins, our waiter finally came to take our drink orders. Husband ordered his Jack and coke, and I tried the (new to me) caged tiki- they were good. We also ordered our usual bowl of clam chowder and crab cakes to start, and went ahead and put in our order for the main course as we already knew what we wanted- we both got the filet, one with the mashed potatoes with a side of mushrooms and my husband got his with the furikake rice.

*this is when they usually suggest the Lava cake as it takes time to prepare and bake...but it was not mentioned....

When our main dishes came, we had no steak knives to cut into our steak to see if they were cooked to our liking. He said he would be right back with some knives...we waited, and waited and waited... meanwhile our steaks were getting cold and sides were getting cold and drying out. We sat there patiently as we observed him serving plates of food to two other tables nearby. We finally stopped another waiter and told him we have been waiting for our knives to cut into our steaks, he promptly brought them over. Which adds to my my frustration as to why our waiter couldn't have done the same thing when he said he would bring them right over?!

Our waiter finally came back over to us, per our request to inform him that our food has cooled down because he neglected to provide proper utensils to eat with. His excuse was he was very busy, which I understand, but all we needed were knives to cut into our meat with- which his co worker provided for us within seconds. He did offer to remake our food, but I declined as we already waited long enough. After our conversation his attitude and demeanor towards us changed drastically making it very awkward. He didn't come back to check on us until he brought our bill.

After paying, we left feeling off and disappointed. When we made the decision to have our dinner here we expected quality- in food and service and when those expectations are not met, it's...

It was good, until it wasn't. It was our anniversary dinner and we chose there. We were early so it was pretty empty, our server Austin, was good and amiable. I ordered a mocktail which was the mockjito or whatever it was called. It was yummy and fresh tasting. I ended up ordering 2 as the menu said refills were only $3.50 (we got charged full price on the 2nd but they fixed it) the sun was setting and the view was great from the windows over the boats. The downside was it was COLD! The a/c vent was right by our table and I had to keep my down jacket on the whole dinner, and my husband was cold. I ordered the clam chowder large size and it was delicious! They give you a bread basket at your table which was nice with ordering the soup. Hubby got the $56 meal of prime rib (good) Cesar salad (good) and a side of potato's (gave wrong potatoes but good) it came with a lava cake (good) I ordered the Kale salad (good) but I would have omitted the cranberries in the salad, it was over sweet. The pomegranate arils were perfect with the goat cheese. The cranberries were unnecessary. I also ordered the asparagus and it was yummy but the chef never snapped the stalks so the ends were tough and inedible. This is cooking 101, basics and I was surprised to see it there. I hope the kitchen team can fix that because the option to have an "upscale" side like that and pay extra for inedible food is unbelievable. When I brought it to Austin's attention his demeanor changed towards us and his amiability left. He wasn't rude but you could sense his attitude towards us changed. I wasn't rude when I pointed out the asparagus issue, but I feel he may have been a new server as the result wasn't handled great. If it was me as the server I would NOT have taken it personally, I would have informed the manager and removed the vegetable and offered a replacement. My husband ordered the special potatoes for $1 more and ended up with mashed potatoes instead. We were still charged the $1 extra, but Austin took that and the other overcharge off. I won't hurry back, the prices are up there, but I do like the location as our boat is nearby.

If this restaurant was a song, it wouldn't make the Billboard charts. I went to Chart House because they had over 2000 reviews on Google and a 4.5-star rating. I can only believe they have such a high rating because people who come to this area, like myself, for events associated with Daytona Beach are often under the influence of alcohol and excited to be in a sunny place. Clearly, they must be making these reviews under the influence because this restaurant failed horribly for me and my party of six. We ordered the miso maple glazed salmon with balsamic drizzle, which was a big fizzle for the table. The prime rib, which I ordered medium, came out medium but tasted like a piece of spam. Sorry spam. The savory shrimp pasta was clearly poorly and lazily prepared. The filet mignon was subpar. The oysters on the half shell were surprisingly disappointing because, being near the ocean, I expected them to be delicious. Instead, they tasted as if they had shells in them and were crunchy. Our experience wasn’t all bad. The kimchi calamari was good, the crabcake with the brown butter skillet corn mustard sauce was delicious, and the drinks were okay. If this is a representation of Daytona Beach's finest restaurants, oh boy. I’m sorry. You guys must’ve had an off night—maybe you got a new chef, I’m not sure. I’m ready to dispute the charge on my credit card because I think you guys failed horribly. I gave you guys two stars, and it has nothing to do with the food. If it was based on the food alone, you would’ve gotten no stars. But our server Elyse/Alisse (not sure how to spell it, sorry) was so polite, so charming, so accommodating, so attentive, and overall awesome and amazing. The two stars are for her. I would have given ya five stars just for her but I don’t want to mislead the people. So I have to be honest in my review so that people know and are aware that this place is not worth the price based on my experience.

(BLUF) Great server, location, ambiance. Pricey food was lacking and wait times are crazy. Charthouse has so many things going for it. Our server was very helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. The location is pretty and the inside ambiance was classy and very on theme. We entered and asked for a table. We were asked if we had a reservation, we declined and were sent downstairs to an open seating area. We didn't want to sit at a bar for our anniversary so we returned to the upstairs and re asked for a table upstairs seeing as at least half the tables were empty. We were promptly seated over looking the stairs in the center away from the view. (no one else sat in the center area the two hours we were there on a Saturday night) We started by ordering drinks (non alcoholic) a NY steak app, and lobster bisque. Bisque came straight out, heavy alcohol taste. Wait, wait, wait. 30 minutes and a gentleman walks up to us, no introduction, and tells us the NY app is unavailable. He implores us to reorder a different app. I get the new England clam chowder. Comes right out, very tasty but more viscous than I'm used to. We order our mains and dessert (30 minute prep time for desert), a grouper Blackened and a filet. Wait wait wait. Both come out. Grouper was ok, I think it was missing the ginger coconut rice, but the veggies were the star that complimented a good fish. The steak was prepped well (medium) but had a very charred taste, potatoes were good. We got a side of sizzling mushrooms, ok. We finished and waited, waited, waited. We were told the desert needed to cool, waited, waited waited. It finally comes out and I think it was pretty good. Very chocolatley but a large portion, so make sure you save space for it. Overall, I think this place is ok but has a few flaws I just didn't expect for a place at this calibre.
