Beach Bros Coffee Company Review: The Real Deal, Not a Trendy Pretender
So here’s how this went down. One of my favorite bartenders knows I’m a full-blown coffee snob. Like, own-my-own-espresso-machine, can-taste-the-origin-of-the-bean level snob and he tells me they opened a coffee spot riverside. Naturally, I had to check if this was a legit coffee shop or one of those “craft brew” places that thinks pouring coffee out of a beaker makes it artisanal.
I did my research and was pleasantly surprised. These folks roast their own beans and actually care about sourcing. That alone was enough to get me on my bike and over there.
When I walked in, the two young ladies behind the counter were friendly, helpful and knew their stuff, not the blank “what’s a latte?” look I’ve seen elsewhere. I ordered The Beachcomber hot and a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Let me tell you, that croissant sandwich smoked every other breakfast spot around here. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Absolutely worth the $8.
Now, the latte. Oh. My. God. The latte. The barista recommended The Beachcomber based on my “I want coffee that tastes like coffee” preferences. You know, not the liquid candy bars they serve at chain stores where the coffee is just a rumor under all that syrup. She promised me this one would let the espresso shine, and she was so right. It was perfectly balanced, creamy but not cloying, coconutty without tasting like sunscreen, and the espresso shots? Perfection. Deep, rich, robust and roasted like someone actually cares.
I’ve tried every coffee shop within biking distance since moving here a year ago and this is the first one that made me consider putting my espresso machine on sabbatical. If you live for chain coffee, this probably isn’t your scene but if you want the real deal, Beach Bros is it.

In the event that there's a baseball game you can't get in to get coffee without a ticket to the game which is definitely a hindrance when you only want coffee and couldn't care less about the baseball game. Even doubly so when the front gate is giving you attitude about it. Maybe an easier to access location would be...
